Job Description
Role Summary: The Plant Leader – (Location: Wuhan), reports to the Global Supply Chain Leader - (PL). The role is responsible for the leadership and coordination of supply chain operations and manufacturing activities at the PTR site in Wuhan, driving achievement of financial and key performance targets, sharing best practices and facilitating employee engagement and culture development across the global supply chain team and other functional teams.

In this role the job holder will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

- Responsible for planning, coordinating and directing all supply chain and related functions at the site, providing visible personal commitment to EHS and leading compliant behavior and processes across the site. Identifies innovative ways to increase productivity and decrease manufacturing cost, therefore enhancing competitiveness. Makes necessary internal changes to enable successful innovation.
- Drives best practice awareness and sharing, harnessing data driven, 6-Sigma, Lean and FastWorks approaches to problem solving, liaising with the (PL) and HV Products global teams to ensure mutual support and cooperation to deliver shared objectives.
- Proactively anticipate issues and develop plans to continuously improve quality, timeliness, competitiveness, productivity, etc. Shape programs for Manufacturing Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Lean, Quality and Materials Management, driving cost-out initiatives, VCP, Fulfilment and Inventory strategies.
- Provide contemporary leadership being aware of employee needs, connecting with a broad global employee population, and ensuring employees are aware of and tied to the overall business strategy.
- Ensure all administrative and operational requirements within the plant are handled in a timely manner and develop rigorous operating rhythms to monitor and pulse progress across the suite of KPI’s.
- Drives customer service mindset, engages and cooperates with the (Site/PL) & HV Products functional teams and wider Grid Solutions organization (Commercial Solutions, Projects, Services, Functions and other PL’s) to ensure delivery of customer expectations together with business priorities and objectives.
- Significant experience of leading manufacturing operations and supply chain activities.
- Strong customer orientation and focus on issue resolution; excellent negotiation skills with the ability to interface with and influence multiple stakeholders at all levels.
- Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills, capable of influencing and driving a strategic change agenda across the organization. Change agent, with strong credibility at all levels of the organization. Strong communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to identify and explain critical issues. Six sigma/lean practitioner expertise is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively across functions, prior experience of working with and influencing a global organization. Proven mentoring and coaching abilities, demonstrated ability to motivate & inspire others.
- Exceptional people management, team building, performance development, strategic and operations planning, process management, negotiation, and relationship management skills. Proven mentoring and coaching abilities, demonstrated ability to motivate & inspire others.
- Strong English ability to free communicate with HQ and customers.
- Knowledge of the disciplines of manufacturing management, including production operations, inventory controls, costing systems, financial reporting measures.
- Previous experience in manufacturing policies and practices established in GE, together with commercial customer relationships.
- Previous experience in Power Transformer or similar industry.
- Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
