Eaton’s VGNA division is currently seeking a Sr. Metrology & Labs Supervisor to join our team. This position is based at our Aguascalientes facility. The Sr. Metrology & Labs Supervisor is responsible for Assure the correct and accurate operation of measuring devices on the plant. Some activities related with the position will be: Define and procure adequate measuring devices for each of the different operations and collaborate with the quality engineer to define the dimensional Control Plan (DCP) for components. Lead and execute installation, runoff, startup and validation (including MSA) of transferred and new measurement and NDT equipment. Assist with the implementation of quality systems (IATF 16949, EATON Quality System). Assure compliance of all laboratories and measuring devices versus quality standards (IATF 16949, AIAG manuals) Accountable for implementation of plant safety programs and equipment. Develop continuous improvement plans regarding Incoming, Millipore, Metallurgic, Metrology Lab and Non destructive tests. Write and update work instructions for Incoming, Millipore, Metallurgic and Metrology Lab personnel. Lead, coach, and guide Incoming, Millipore, Metallurgic and Metrology team members and team leaders within the laboratories, review performance of team members and team leaders. Assure safe work procedures are established and followed with laboratory personnel. Assure verification and calibration of measuring devices and poke yokes throughout the plant Ensure overall quality system compliance, acting as the advocate of the quality system in manufacturing. Participate in & lead structured team problem solving & apply statistical & other problem solving tools. Assist in the preparation of customer required reporting. Assist in the development & presentation of cost of quality measurements. Assist in identifying & coordinating quality related training programs. Perform additional functions as required. Support quality engineers with the fabrication, validation and work instruction documentation of production gauges Assist the different departments of the plant by acting as the leading expert on GD&T Manage the budget of metrology department and present proposals for continuously improving it. Participate in safety coaching. Provide EHS training (100% completion). Complete assigned EHS inspections. Respond to department EHS Concerns. Enforce the rules. Include Safety topics in department meetings. Get Involved. See attachment for more details. Responsible of compliance to automotive standard ISO TS 16949 / IATF and customer specific requirements related to metrology and receiving labs. Demonstrate the application of the 8 CIF modules and support related initiatives on daily basis through establishing, maintaining and complying his/her Standard Work and other tools. Participate in Kaizen events, Lean Council and Continuous Improvement teams when required. Generate ideas for improvement according with the local programs. Implement and optimize Lean Management tools. Sustain the ELLS tools (VSM, 5´s, TMP, STW, Set up, Problem Solving, Materials Management and 6 Sigma) to drive the continuous improvement performance when apply. Minimum 5 years experience applying quality tools in a manufacturing environment, automotive preferred. Six Sigma Greenbelt would be a plus. Strong communication skills. Solid knowledge of engineering techniques & manufacturing processes. Thorough knowledge of statistics & statistical process control, including gauge repeatability & reproducibility studies. Knowledge of the manufacturing process and basic machine tool concepts. Knowledge of metrology, including CMM application & programming preferred. Computer literacy, including spreadsheets, statistical programs, database maintenance & CAD. Thorough knowledge of geometric dimensioning & tolerance (GD&T) principles. General knowledge of raw materials processing. Strong analytical skills and understanding of problem solving tools / methods (Six Sigma, 8D, or other). Proficiency in problem solving & quality techniques including: SPC PFMEA PPAP 8-D problem solving APQP MSA Capability Analysis Knowledge of quality requirements and applications to Metallurgical and Metrology Lab work instructions, Receiving work instructions, Chemical Lab instructions Customer contact skills Ability to communicate in the English language (70%). Knowledge of ISO TS 16949 / IATF and customer specific requirements related to metrology lab. We make what matters work.
