Sr Mgr Medical Communications
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will lead the Global/US/Outside US (OUS) Cardiometabolic Medical Communications (MedCom) team to develop and execute medical communication strategic plans across Amgen’s Cardiometabolic portfolio and will have responsibility/oversight for development of medical content. Medical content includes, but is not limited to, Medical Information Letters (MILs), Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), slide decks, graphics, videos, congress materials (e.g., interactive congress assets and post-congress resources), and innovative content (e.g., digital interactives, podcasts, infographics, websites) that will enhance virtual engagements. The MedCom team works closely with cross-functional partners including Medical Leads, Clinical Development, Medical Science Liaisons, and Commercial and is responsible for the development of high quality and high impact resources that communicate the science and data on Amgen’s portfolio.
- Ensure appropriate input and prioritization of needs and resource allocation to meet program goals timely and within budget
- Supervise and analyze medical insights and inquiries to inform development of scientific and medical resources
- Drive and/or support strategy and scientific content development for scientific meetings and advisory boards
- Support team in the execution of multi-country medical education events OUS
- Provide scientific support to other Amgen departments
- Develop disease state resources that educate on topics relevant to the therapeutic area
- Ensure accuracy of scientific content
- Manage team responsible for responding to product-related Medical Information inquiries
- Understand the Global, US and OUS landscape (disease, scientific, regulatory, etc) and apply expertise to development of scientific resources
- Analyze medical literature to inform medical strategies and tactics
- Manage project-associated budgets and vendors
- Recruit and retain high-performing & empowered staff
- Actively support and enhance the career development of employees within Global/US MedCom
- Embrace and role-model principles of diversity, inclusion, and belonging
- Ensure compliance with all applicable policies and procedures
- Some travel may be required — up to 10%.

Basic Requirements
Doctorate degree with 2 or more years of clinical, academic, or MedCom experience
Or
Master’s degree & 6 years of clinical, academic, or MedCom experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree & 8 years of clinical, academic, or MedCom experience
2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
Preferred Requirements
- PharmD, PhD, MD, or DO with 4 or more years of relevant experience in clinical research, patient care, Clinical Development, Medical/Scientific Affairs, and/or basic research (Other doctorate degrees may be considered)
- Prior experience in Medical Affairs or Clinical Development within the biopharmaceutical industry, and/or clinical or research experience in cardiology
- An understanding of the pharmaceutical commercialization process and knowledge of the regulatory and legal guidelines affecting promotion of prescription products
- Proficiency in writing and communicating scientific/clinical data
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, organizational, time management, and project planning skills with strong ability for self-direction
- Demonstrated track record of strategic execution in a matrix environment with limited supervision
- The ability to work in teams and interface in a dynamic environment across corporate functions
- Understanding of disease landscape and clinical data to enable critical analysis of scientific literature and communicate implications cross-functionally
- Prior experience of successfully leading consultants and vendors
- Strong computer and database skills, particularly with Microsoft Office products
