Summary:

This section focuses on the main purpose of the job in one to four sentences.

  • Responsible for conducting Purchasing and Supplier Management (PSM) for direct and indirect material and service suppliers at the plant. These include negotiations with local suppliers to establish TCO pricing, delivery, terms and conditions, requirements, pricing agreements and long-term contracts, supply continuity, supplier notice of change impacts, strategic buys, supplier scorecards, and cost savings identification and initiatives for all suppliers
  • Accountable for leading purchasing programs at the plant level to include cost savings identification to project completion - VIP (Value Improvement Projects), site sourcing strategies, supply base optimization, PPV reporting, local supplier annual standard cost setting, all raw material annual standard cost review, and prepare and present Monthly Operating Review plant summary reporting to management.
  • Must interface with Production/Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain and support departments in the plant as well as with Divisional, Regional, and Corporate/Global Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, Global Product Management, Finance, and Supply Chain teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This section contains a list of five to eight primary responsibilities of this role that account for 5% or more of the work. The incumbent will perform other duties assigned.

1. Responsible for assuring that all plant purchases and agreements are properly authorized as per the Purchasing Policy.

2. Solicit and evaluate supplier quotations for indirect and direct materials and services.

3. Execute PO’s for direct and indirect materials and services, as appropriate.

4. Negotiate, draft, and execute contracts for the purchase of indirect and direct materials and services.

5. Prepare, review and distribute supplier scorecards.

6. Identify, implement and track material cost saving/VIP projects for indirect and direct materials and services.

7. Collaborate with internal and external supplier cross-functional teams to resolve supply continuity issues. Ensure preventative actions are implemented to eliminate the potential for a reoccurrence.

8. Work with the appropriate groups in the qualification and validation of new/revised raw materials, components, packaging products and services.

9. Review, analyze and report out on purchase price variation for raw materials. Develop and implement plans to ensure positive PPV.

10. Determine and update raw material standard cost during budgeting cycle.

11. Create and implement a plant site sourcing plan.

12. Benchmark purchasing operations with other plants. Standardize operations while implementing best practices.

13. Establish and approve sources for direct and indirect materials and services for the plant while balancing supply base optimization.

14. Develop an in-depth knowledge of suppliers, manufacturing processes and purchasing strategies with the objective of reducing total cost for the plant’s direct and indirect spend.

  • Computer proficient. Software knowledge: MS Office, WebEx, SharePoint, and other applications as needed. Experience with PRMS a plus.
  • Knowledge of procurement practices and techniques.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player with the ability to work in a matrix environment to include all levels of management.
  • Project Management skills a plus

Education and/or Experience:

Include the education and experience that is necessary to perform the job satisfactorily.

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years purchasing experience required.
  • Experience in medical industry desired.
  • Knowledge of procurement practices and techniques preferred. CPM and/or CPIM certification desirable.
  • Comprehension of materials management and other procurement, supply chain systems preferred.
  • Bilingual – English and Spanish
  • Project management experience a plus
