Eaton’s electrical sector is currently seeking a Sr. Power System and Controls Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Moon Township facility. Relocation assistance will be provided. Position Overview: Work with a team of engineers to develop fault mitigation topologies and algorithms for power electronic based circuit protection devices. This includes analyzing the impact of transients on power distribution systems due to ultra-fast switching of power electronic devices, and impact of transients and harmonics from power distribution systems on power electronic circuit protection devices. In this function you will: Contribute as a key team member to identify, analyze, and validate advanced power electronics topologies in the areas of current switching and fault current interruption. Contribute to the development, design, build, test evaluation and documentation of hybrid and solid-state circuit interrupters. Stays current with the latest power system analysis technologies and applies the knowledge to circuit protection applications. Develops product technical requirements by working with cross-functional team (marketing, engineering, manufacturing) Plans work in detail at individual level, measures progress, and coordinates activities with the team members Creates technical reports and presentations for leadership review and publication Collaborates with teams from Corporate Research & Technology, Electrical Sector Center of Excellence, and external technology resources (National Labs and Universities) for technology and product innovation. Generates value added intellectual property. When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger. *MSJA #LI-ED2 Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Masters degree in Engineering Minimum 2 years of related engineering experience in designing, developing and testing power system analysis or motor controls. Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future Preferred qualifications: Masters degree in Power Systems, Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Strong understanding of electrical power systems and power electronics Experience working in diverse cultural situations with global customers and team members Demonstrated knowledge of engineering processes Position Criteria: Proficient in design & simulation tools such as Altium Designer, PSIM, ANSYS Simplorer, LT SPICE, MATLAB Simulink, and C language programming Strong understanding of circuit theory and signal integrity as it applies to circuit layout (e.g. PCB layout) Familiar with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies and other standard EE lab equipment Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment and implement repairs.
