What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. The Cardio-metabolic Disease therapeutic area within Discovery Research at Amgen is seeking to recruit a Sr. Principal Scientist that is highly motivated and with a track record of experience in identifying, selecting, validating, and advancing drug targets to treat cardio-metabolic diseases, in vivo pharmacology for heart failure is a plus. The location will be in san Francisco. In this vital role you will need:

• To show a high degree of independence to conduct experiments in the laboratory and provide scientific and strategic input into the target portfolio, preclinical animal models that will be used to advance the programs.
• To support with in vivo pharmacology heart failure programs, informing on preclinical studies to support product development.
• To be highly motivated, with strong experimental and technical research skills, outstanding written and oral communication skills, and be able to work productively in a collaborative and cross-functional team environment within and outside of our laboratory.
• To demonstrate managing experience
• To demonstrate relevant areas of training: in vivo pharmacology in heart failure preclinical models

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 4 years of cardio-metabolic disease experience

OR

Master’s degree & 7 years of cardio-metabolic disease experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree & 9 years of cardio-metabolic disease experience

Preferred Experience:

• Doctorate degree & 7-10 years of work experience
• Experience in cardio-metabolic diseases.
• Demonstrate aptitude for independent research and innovative thinking and understanding of human genetics.
• Ability to present clear and compelling scientific case.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to staff in the same function
• Skilled in new technologies for investigating human and non-human biology.
• Experience in heart failure.
• Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
