The Lokelma ® Supply Site (LSS) has recently remodeled office space to provide a pleasant office environment to support varying work styles and collaboration needs.  The site manufactures the global supply of API for Lokelma ® and is also equipped with QC and development laboratories. LSS has an on-site café with a selection of snacks and refrigerated grab-and-go items for purchase. Additionally, the site offers a food delivery service through Foodsby, allowing employees to purchase food from a variety of local restaurants to be delivered to the site, which currently includes a discounted price for LSS employees.

Pharmaceutical Technology and Development (PT&D) is the bridge that turns forward-thinking science into medicines that help millions of people. We work across the entire value chain, designing and delivering active ingredients, formulations, and devices required to support new medicines across all dosage forms– from supplies for use in early studies and clinical trials to developing the technology to ensure drugs can be scaled up for commercial manufacture. 

The PT&D On Market Technical Senior Process Engineer is responsible for providing experienced technical support for operations, act as subject matter expert for multiple processing operations and provide chemical engineering technical leadership within the On Market Technical team. You will use your thorough understanding of fundamental chemical engineering principles and an ability to apply them innovatively to resolve complex problems. You will work with other scientists to design process improvements through theoretical study and laboratory investigation for the commercial-scale production of a large volume of active pharmaceutical ingredients. You will be expected to deliver a varied portfolio of work to agreed timelines. Prior experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment will be helpful.

Activities will have a significant impact on the overall success of Operations as well as ensuring the commercial viability of current products. The activities of the group help to ensure the availability of all AstraZeneca products to the commercial organization. The role will have an impact on both the financial and reputational aspects of the business.

What you will do:

  • Provision of technical expertise to aid in the resolution of manufacturing/process issues & complaints impacting supply or manufacturability.

  • Responsible for the technical support during the transfer of established products within the site (eg new manufacturing trains/scales including support for equivalency determination as applicable.

  • Assess impact and support complex technical improvements or change activities assuring API performance.

  • Support for drug substance process validation programs in the support of transfer and change activities.

  • Maintain technical knowledge in the area of subject matter expertise including up-to-date advances in new technologies to aid in the improvement of manufacturing processes and or methods.

Essentials:

Education:

  • BSc/BEng or Ph.D. level in Chemical Engineering required.

Required:

  • Minimum of three years shown experience in a regulated or development environment.

  • Understanding of the overall drug development and commercialization process from development, launch, and through life-cycle management.

  • In-depth understanding of process engineering and application to process development and scale-up.

  • .Experience in Operations and/or R&D with a track record of successful project leadership and delivery within a matrix organization.

Desired:

  • Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.

  • Experience and training in Lean and six sigma, problem-solving tools, and have experience in data analysis and interpretation.

  • Understanding of principles, applications, and management of SHE and cGMP.
