Position Summary: The APAC Senior Product Applications Manager will demonstrate a thorough understanding of Gibco, Difco, & Bacto Cell Culture Media Products & Services and their use in bioprocess applications. Knowledge of the customer applications, competitive landscape, formulation intellectual property (IP) and regulatory requirements for the pharmaceutical industry is expected.
The APAC Senior Product Applications Manager will use in-depth knowledge to provide technical expertise to sales staff and the customer through sales presentations (including applications data) and product data analysis. They will assist the sales staff in assessing potential applications for company products to meet customer needs by coordinating collection of field VOC input from customers and FAS team, working with Global BU and R&D team to translate this into product specifications and R&D roadmap, and involvement in New Product Introductions (NPIs) and new services capabilities (pilots, testing, and rollouts). This person will interact with customers within the region and jointly with the Commercial and Technical Sales Teams to collect direct understanding of field based inputs regarding technical needs to support customers as inputs to the New Product and Applications Data development processes. They will also be an active participant in R&D alpha/beta test coordination and applications data planning needs within the region. Responsibilities include close relationship development with APAC commercial leaders, TSS team, FAS team, and support customers through joint visits as needed. As this reaches across capabilities in other Business Units (BUs) or Divisions in Thermo Fisher Scientific, this senior manager will work closely with Business Development in the region as an appropriate technical contact for implementation of programs to drive revenue growth and support of the APAC sales organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical strategy deployment & execution for new or commercialized products & service capabilities:
- Represent global Cell Culture/Cell Therapy product management team in the region
- Coordination with TSS, FAS and commercial leaders in the region
- Assisting with NPI support planning for alpha, beta, new product testing or new panel capabilities rollouts
- Training programming for FAS and TSS teams (when appropriate) - developing content with Product Management for Early Phase – will also contribute to BAM training content development
- Coordination between Singapore & China R&D teams for integration of activities and offerings working with the Product Manager(s) and Supervisor (this would also include supporting panels consolidation of offerings and approach to customers as well as rapid prototyping into one process)
- Provide VOC collection and input into applications data request development for more workflow related applications, NPI applications, and existing product applications data development
- Develop an understanding of our IP protection strategy in a way that can support APAC team in a more local time way (may provide backup to others supporting this from a business side including possible backup to Supervisor in region)
- Other objectives as agreed with Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Bachelors or Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering or related discipline
Minimum 7 years of industry technical experience in therapeutic cell culture and process development in a cGMP environment
Experience in interacting with external clients and ability to present technical content to small and large group of audience.
Travel and Location:
Travel up to 50% of the time
This position will be located remotely in the APAC region, with expectation that the person will have access to convenient air travel
This position may also be requested to travel to sites where Thermo Fisher Scientific has offices both in region and globally as needed.
Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:
- Must have at least 5 years of recent progressive scientific with at least 2 years field experience
- Must have science background to shorten onboarding period
- Must be able to coordinate with others in commercial team
