Job Description

Position Summary

Our Genetic Sciences Division (GSD) based in South San Francisco is at the forefront of innovation for genetic analysis research and clinical applications. The Genetic Testing Solutions Organization within GSD is a cross-platform organization designed to accelerate growth in the clinical space. The Asymptomatic Testing Solutions team within GTS is focused on developing product, technology, and service solutions that can enable the world to successfully manage pandemics, such as COVID-19, minimizing both negative health and economic outcomes. The team is dedicated to working across all Thermo Fisher Scientific genetic analysis platforms and diagnostic products, as well as identifying external partnerships (e.g., M&A, OEM, etc.), to develop products/solutions for key market verticals/ stakeholders across the globe The product portfolio and pipeline include both RUO and IVD products, and will include self-manufactured, OEM, and 3rd party products, technologies, and services. The Sr. Product Manager will focus primarily on the employee safety and productivity use case globally (e.g., manufacturing, service industries, etc.). In this role, the Sr. Product Manager will collaborate closely with a broad set of supporting functions with GSD and across Thermo Fisher Scientific to ensure the creation of differentiated solutions, drive growth of these solutions, ensure ongoing infrastructure and customer experience improvements, and expand the portfolio/ solution through new product introductions, enhanced technology/ service capabilities, and novel partnerships.

Key Components

Customer & Market Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of molecular testing methods utilized in clinical applications and their strengths/differentiation relative to conventional diagnostics methods. Familiar with qPCR, CE, Microarray and NGS platforms, with in-depth knowledge of qPCR.
  • Understands use cases and customer needs for qPCR-based testing across formats spanning low to medium density.
  • Familiar with global trends on adoption of molecular testing.
  • Understands organizational requirements to design products/solutions, including IT and Manufacturing components.
  • Knowledge of laboratory, POC, and home diagnostics markets and technologies

  • Strong execution – demonstrated success working in a global, matrixed-environment; managing worldwide supply, demand, revenue, margin and pricing for product portfolio; updating and presenting business analysis regularly to management, finance, and manufacturing teams. Proven ability to organize and drive diverse cross functional teams to create product, technology, and/or service solutions under tight timeframes.

Proven success in developing compelling training materials, sales support tools, and compelling marketing collateral for global sales teams, technical support and field application scientists.

Responsibilities

  • Define market trends, customer journeys, buying processes, customer needs and growth areas.
  • Create/maintain multi-year product/ solution strategy and roadmap and associated business cases.
  • Collaborate with Platform, R&D, Medical and Business Development teams to assess, prioritize and develop product, technology, and service roadmap.
  • Analyze, monitor, and manage competitive environment to optimize solution design.
  • Identify, contract, and manage external partners as required to create and deploy solution across all global regions.
  • Ensure prioritization and tracking of product management activities – New Product Introductions, Sustaining & Incubation. Infrastructure and customer improvement initiatives will be a key part of the role.
  • Accountable for delivering key milestones on time, achieving revenue targets, and achieving EBITA expansion goals.
  • Execute consistently on plan targets using metrics to monitor and adjust based on performance against those metrics. Collaborate closely with Finance in business analytics and reporting.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in product management with a focus on diagnostic/ genetic testing and/ or creation of product, technology, and service solutions.
  • Strong presence; capability to influence and promote enthusiasm via excellent communications skills.
  • Experience and demonstrated aptitude both managing and prioritizing multiple projects and initiatives. Experience with infrastructure projects involving IT and Manufacturing is a strong plus.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a large and complex organization.
  • Experience with financial modeling and data analysis skills. Ability to forecast and track results. Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as PowerBI or Tableau is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree required in science, engineering, businesses, economics or related field. MBA or similar advanced degree preferred.
