Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The primary function is to purchase goods and services to support Global Services and design prototypes for the Raleigh Area Plants. Commodities will include all active electronics (SCRs, IGBTs, Transistors, Diodes and Integrated Circuits). This position is also responsible for the Contract Manufacturing of Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA) and deals with more complex commodities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Review ERP notifications and place purchase orders – blanket and discreet for demand requirements Review shortages and Open Order Report to assess materials demand as required Facilitate the implementation of goals and objectives between corporate commodity management and the Raleigh Area Supply Chain Management (SCM) team Work with and evaluate Suppliers on pricing, scheduling of materials, and planning of future orders and emergency spot buys Perform cost savings analysis and volume planning to identify cost reduction opportunities Develop new sources of supply for non-concurrent materials demand when service requirements are no longer supported by production suppliers Work in concert with Engineering for changes, revisions of material and New Product releases. Purchase design prototypes for the Raleigh Area Plants by leveraging approved strategic sources Coordinate with other Raleigh Area Senior Buyers to develop prototype capabilities within the approved supply base Take correction actions and make disposition of excess or obsolete materials. Manage inventory levels of assigned commodities to ensure Raleigh Area Plant’s inventory goals are achieved. Proactively resolve supplier Accounts Payable issues Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field Three years of purchasing experience Required working knowledge and experience with computers Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Only candidates in the immediate geographic area (60-mile radius) will be considered. (If applicable) Position Criteria: Knowledge of MRP/Material Planning Systems (Oracle, SAP, PRMS, Vista) Knowledge of general manufacturing practices Knowledge of purchasing practices/contracting methods & strategies Ability to train lower level purchasing personnel Knowledge of component purchasing and supply sources Strong communication and negotiation skills Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment CPIM or CPM certification Oracle/SAP System Experience Lean Six Sigma Knowledge or knowledge of problem-Solving tools and processes Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings and specifications Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications Eaton considers qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with local laws.
