Today’s business processes rely more and more on data and analytics for effective end to end business solutions based on an ever-increasing number of systems that have to interop together. A key role in this orchestration are trustworthy and accurate master data sources. The OneAsset at Microsoft is one of those critical master inventory systems that brings our systems together with significant implications on agility of our businesses, optimizing costs and allowing business verticals to seize opportunities. We enable this by providing unprecedented visibility by modeling the lifecycle of assets and how they interact with to business processes. OneAsset reconciles the data from multiple agents and systems and using advanced analytics techniques to build one accurate master inventory from multiple incomplete sources: the sum is much more valuable than the parts. Once we have the data reconciled and connected, currently at 7 million assets, we develop data mining and visualizations services to integrate those insights into our business verticals.
