Microsoft Modern Apps utilizes proven Microsoft tools, practices and solutions development experts to develop mission-critical solutions for public sector customers. Operating from Microsoft’s premises with all necessary infrastructure supplied, the Modern Apps highly qualified personnel work hand-in-hand with customers, partners and other Microsoft teams to deliver professional solutions within reduced time and financial boundaries, and with increased predictability of success.
Responsibilities
The Modern Apps Senior Project Manager (PjM) is responsible for the execution of complex application development projects within a formal Statement of Work (SOW) to drive predictable behaviors in terms of project process and outcomes (accomplished on time, on budget, and according to customer specifications).
The PjM is responsible for project delivery quality, profitability and customer satisfaction, among other metrics. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the following:
- Delivers engagements within the constraints of schedule, features/functionality, and budget.
- Manages the work that must be done to deliver an integrated solution usually composed of solutions, services, or a formalized solution offering.
- Establishes a strategy of continuous risk and issue identification and management that enables proactive decisions and actions throughout the project life cycle.
- Creates an environment to support issue and risk management where the project team has visible, measurable, and repeatable processes for managing these issues and risks.
- Executes established policies and procedures for the project, e.g. quality assurance, team reference guide, communication plan, and setting up the environment.
- Manages resources, partners and/or customer resources and materials used to complete tasks in a project.
- Maintains the Master Project Plan, Master Project Schedule and SDM deliverables.
- Stays current and involved in collecting conditions of the project relative to resources (people and optionally funding/cost), schedule (time), and features (the solution and its quality) as specified by the established project protocol. In addition, performs the process of comparing actual performance with planned performance, analyze variances, evaluate possible alternatives and take appropriate corrective action (control) as specified by the established project protocol.
- Collects, reviews and publishes project status regarding resources (people and optionally funding/cost), schedule (time), stakeholder management, and features (the solution and its quality) that influence project performance and completion.
- Follows the principles of Microsoft Services Delivery Methodology (SDM) in project delivery.
Qualifications
NOTE: The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate U.S. Government clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
The PjM role requires both deep project management experience in a consulting organization, and broad technology knowledge with the ability to facilitate the architecting of solutions by mapping common customer business problems to reusable end-to-end technology solutions.
The ability to easily and effectively connect and relate to senior customer executives is an imperative. The role requires a technically strong project manager who is resourceful, confident under pressure, and has demonstrated skill in both crisis management and expectation management.
Required:
- 10+ years related business and IT project management experience
- Multiple years working within the Federal Government
- Proven experience managing application development projects through all phases of a solution’s or application’s lifecycle in a consulting organization, with demonstrated expertise and proven abilities in risk management and mitigation, and business value or strategy consulting.
- Strong executive presence and demonstrated ability to build, extend and maintain senior client relationships.
- Exceptional communication, team building and mentoring skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead client and consulting virtual or matrixed teams.
- Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Customer/Partner Relationships, Product & Technology Expertise, Project Management, Strategic Insight.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s or Masters’ degree (Computer Science or Technical degree preferred) or equivalent 4 + years of work experience.
- Experience using Microsoft Project to develop WBS and Project schedules
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certified
- Proven experience and expertise in successful execution of large-scale and/or enterprise Agile across geographies; Certified Scrum Professional ™ (CSP) or Certified Scrum Coach ™ (CST)
Location/Travel: You will be based where commuting between Eldridge, MD (50% of the time) and the Washington D.C. area will be workable. You can expect travel two range from 25 – 50%, as the needs of the business and our customers demand.
