Job Purpose

 

Senior QA Engineer with experience leading and testing complex desktop and web applications (back-end, integration between various services, API testing).

 

We are looking for a motivated Senior QA Engineer who will orchestrate the manual and automated software testing process of our premier PDF formatting software. You will work as part of a distributed agile team and as part of RWS's global organization. Key Responsibilities 

 

  • Be actively involved in all QA activities in the team.
  • Help to lead and coordinate QA activities between team members.
  • Work closely with the QA Manager and keep the QA Manager updated with the testing status.
  • Design, develop, and maintain new test automation in Cloud (AWS, Kubernetes, Docker). Proactively be involved in planning and discussing QA strategies, plans, and scope for Cloud automation.
  • Support manual testing and existing automated test framework.
    • Support existing Perl automation scripts, API testing (REST).
    • Execute Performance and/or Load testing.
    • Prepare the test environment by installing and configuring the software under the test on existing VMs (Windows, Linux). Continuously keep the test environment up to date with the latest builds
    • Test back-end part of services as well as integration between various services
    • Help to perform manual testing of new features, UI, and regression testing against multiple platforms.
  • Bug reporting and bug tracking (JIRA) and test cases management in TestRail
  • Keep detailed QA documentation (Confluence) on how to work with/configure new features, services, etc. to share knowledge between the team.
  • Follow existing QA Best practices during day-to-day activities.
  • Contribute ideas on how to update and modernize existing testing tools, frameworks, and processes.
  • Continuously collaborate with the wider teams – Development, Support, Professional Services, etc.
  • Mentor/guide junior team members.
  • Achieve goals as part of a Scrum team to deliver functionality, enhancements, and fixes. 

 

Skills & Experience

 

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as Senior QA engineer testing complex desktop and web applications.
  • Must have strong scripting experience and experience using programming languages for test automation (Bash, Shell, Perl, Python, Java, etc.).
  • Linux proficiency is preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience in functional and non-functional testing.
  • Strong knowledge of web applications: JavaScript, AJAX, cookies/sessions, browser differences, web servers, REST APIs.
  • Experience with the setup and design of QA test projects from scratch (API & UI automation)
  • Cloud platform knowledge (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.)
  • Experience with CI/CD concepts and tools (Jenkins, GitHub, GitLab, Docker, Kubernetes , Terraform, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies (preferably Scrum)
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills comfortable working as part of a distributed team
  • Ability to learn and tackle new or unfamiliar technologies and methodologies.
  • Degree in computer science or related field

 

As a plus

  • Experience in publishing or content management
  • Experience leading/overseeing QA activities between QA team members.
  • Experience with setting up secure Web Servers
  • Experience with performance monitoring tools

Base Pay: 

Starting at $80,000 year

FLSA Status: Exempt 

 

Actual rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to: position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. Total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other perks, as outlined in any formal offer made.
