The Precision Medicine Oncology Genomics team is committed to drive translational genomic biomarker efforts for pre-clinical and clinical stage programs. We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated Senior Scientist with strong expertise in cell biology and genomics fields to join the team at AbbVie Bay Area and support cutting-edge translational genomic research and biomarker efforts for AbbVie’s Oncology drug discovery and development pipelines. Key Responsibilities: Contribute scientifically, through implementation of novel, cutting-edge single cell genomics technologies, to interrogation of disease/target biology, translational research, and biomarkers discovery. Independently devise, execute, and analyze single cell/CITE-Seq/spatial genomics sequencing experiments; Interpret and present results as a member of cross-functional interdisciplinary teams. Adopt novel scientific methodology to advance research and development in single cell genomics. Initiate and maintain collaborations with cross-functional teams. Effectively communicate hypotheses, work plans and data generated to diverse audiences in both oral and written communications. Work collectively and respectfully within a team and be willing to share workload and help each other. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: PhD Degree in Life Sciences field with a minimum of 3+ years of cell biology and molecular biology experience or Master degree with minimum of 8+ years of cell biology and molecular biology experiences. Broad and versatile scientific and technical expertise in molecular biology, genomics, and cell biology assays, such as DNA and RNA extraction, primer design, qPCR, Gene cloning, NGS library prep, protein purification, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, cell culture and flow cytometry analysis. Demonstrated critical thinking skills as well as excellence and productivity in independent research. Must be proactive and able to work effectively on multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Good general laboratory and organizational skills. Demonstrated effective interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in cancer research, immuno-oncology, genomics, or related field with at least 3+years of relevant postdoctoral experience in academia or pharma industry. Proficiency in single cell/CITE-Seq experiments and spatial genomics, NGS library prep and sequencing, flow cytometry, cell culture, cell sorting, tissue processing in academic or industry setting is preferred. Be versed in the current state of the science of the tumor microenvironment and the interplay between immune cells, stroma, and tumor cells. Be able to perform single cell sequencing data QC analysis. Be able to design, perform, optimize, and troubleshoot genomic assays.
