The goal of the C+E team is to foster a data-driven culture, to encourage and enable the entire organization to make more informed decisions through data. As part of that work our team develops and operationalizes the BI platforms that enable a variety of teams and processes to realize that goal. As the volume of data-and the demand for solutions grows, we need technically strong and curious SWE who can help us deliver insights and build features on those Big Data systems. Responsibilities

As a senior member of the C+E development team, you will be responsible for the design and development of key systems. You will play a key role on technical communication, coordination and alignment across product teams. You will partner with Program Managers, other teams in C+E, and other organizations across Microsoft to address complex issues, fully understand customer needs, and deliver great solutions that truly satisfy and exceed our customer's expectations. You will have the opportunity to perform in a technical lead role for projects, mentor junior engineers as well as contribute to and improving our processes and culture in such a way that is consistent with a world-class professional engineering organization. 

You will design and develop key ingredients for Big Data pipelines using  Spark, SCOPE & T-SQL scripts, work on distributed services for orchestrating Big Data transformations/processing on Azure Data Lake, workflow orchestration tasks, diagnostic interfaces, service layers and other assorted reporting/distribution assets and emerging technologies. You will create different types of automated tests to ensure a high quality and compliant bar. You will monitor and proactively troubleshoot day-to-day operations.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Information Systems or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in design, coding, testing and troubleshooting with customer facing systems in C# and T-SQL.
• 3+ years of cloud development experience in Big Data platforms such as Azure, AWS, HDInsight.

Preferred:

• Knowledge of efficient data structures, algorithms, asynchronous programming and high performance data processing.
• Great design and problem-solving skills, with a strong bias for quality and engineering excellence at scale and ability to quickly adapt to new technologies.
• Attention to detail with self-discipline and a drive for results.
• Demonstrated ability to work in ambiguous situations and across team boundaries.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly the ability to synthesize complex issues/scenarios into easy-to-understand concepts.
