The role is a part of the Data Solutions & Architecture group that falls under the Enterprise Business Systems organization, within Enterprise Technology. We are responsible for architecting, developing and managing the data platforms, data integrations and reporting and analytics solutions for The Walt Disney Company’s enterprise business data. We are experts at architecting and building highly-scalable and innovative data and analytics solutions that help enable the analytics and reporting strategies of the business groups across the company.

The Senior Staff Data Engineer is a key lead engineering role in the Enterprise Business Systems organization, responsible for leading data design and modeling, developing data models, and data integration across multiple data platforms and data domains.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of data engineers and data modelers
  • Training and mentoring junior engineers
  • Analyze data across multiple sources to design, develop and build data models across an enterprise data warehouse using SAP HANA
  • Develop System Integration Test Case, Unit Test Cases, Test Results, Code Reviews and Defect Log Sheet
  • Work with Business & Lead Architects to understand business processes along with reporting and analytical needs and convert the requirements into the Functional/Technical specification and runbooks
  • Define required data integration requirements between various systems and work with the extended team create the data integration
  • Identify and promote best practices and patterns for data modeling and provide oversight for activities related to report migration and data consolidation.
  • Conceptualize, design and implement new SAP HANA applications, working with business architects to understand business problems being addressed by the program including estimating the time and effort to completion

Basic Qualifications:

Successful candidate will have:
  • 10+ years developing enterprise data solutions
  • Experience and proficiency designing and developing highly-scalable, efficient and performance-optimized data models
  • Minimum 6+ years of recent experience in SAP HANA architecture and data modeling
  • Good experience in building data models combining data from various sources that includes SAP ECC, SAP S/4 HANA
  • Excellent technical problem solving and data analysis skills; Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to communicate well to both technical and business audiences
  • Experience with corporate business data domains (especially Finance and HR) is preferred
  • Experience defining systems strategy, defining system requirements, designing and prototyping, testing and training

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with other BI tools such as Business Objects, Snowflake, Tableau, Cognos
  • Knowledge of S/4 HANA, CDS Views and data archiving concepts
  • Experience in actively participating in IT roadmap and strategy development
  • Experience with public cloud platforms deployment and frameworks (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), and data integration between on premise, private and public clouds
  • Surprise us with other skills

Required Education

  • BS Computer Science or related technology field

Preferred Education

  • MS Computer Science or related technology field
