Join our team now at Siemens Healthineers Lab Diagnostics (LD) as a Senior Staff Hardware System Architect/Engineer in the Systems Engineering organization within R&D Product Design Engineering. The role will be located at any one of three locations for the Lab Diagnostics Engineering teams (Tarrytown, NY; Newark, DE; and Flanders, NJ), with very close collaboration among these engineering teams. The position reports to the Director of Systems Engineering within the Product Design Engineering function of the Global Engineering Organization (GEO). You are willing to travel up to 20%, including travel to other two engineering sites. This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As part of the LD Systems Engineering team, the Senior Staff Hardware System Architect/Engineer will be able to independently drive the system architecture development and governance of several complex multi-disciplinary systems within an R&D new product design and development environment for complex hardware-software integrated electromechanical instruments for the Lab Diagnostic business’ product portfolio. Responsibilities and Expectations of Senior Staff Hardware System Architect/Engineer: • Strong technical, communication, and leadership skills. • First hand practical experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and application of modeling simulation tools (ex. SysML/UML, Magic Draw, Cameo, Enterprise Architect, Mathworks) • Work with other decision makers and stakeholders to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support the next generation of products and solutions for Siemens Healthineers Lab Diagnostics Portfolio. • Be comfortable and adept in working in the following primary domains: Mechanical, Electrical, Fluidic, Thermal, Optical, Low-Level Real Time Control Firmware, High-Level Object-Oriented Software Specifically, the Senior Staff Hardware System Architect/Engineer is guided by his/her maturity, vision, depth of domain and technical experience and will: • Lead the specification and realization of a system architecture, and ensures decisions are driven by a clear focus on the intended business goals based on customer needs. • Identify, analyze, and decide on relevant issues in timely manner and with courage, even in the absence of complete information. • Influence and guide an interdisciplinary team spanning development and lifecycle disciplines • Be responsible for a system architecture that allows a cost efficient and timely realization of the system with appropriate quality, even in the face of challenging and changing requirements and realization technologies. • Interpret customer, market or contract requirements, clarify understanding and feasibility, and translate them into technical requirements • Drive the elaboration of solutions and be key stakeholder in the decision process. • Demonstrate ability to coach other engineers on Model Based Systems Engineering and expanding the use of modeling simulation tools within the organization. • Excel in communication and keeping development teams aligned. • Excel in presenting information to an executive audience. • Excel in creation and analysis of complex models to support effective decisions making. Desired skills to have for the success of this role: • Master’s or PhD degree in Engineering • Architecture related certifications • Relevant systems and design engineering experience in complex electromechanical instrumentation in a new product development environment • Experience with medical device product lifecycle preferred, working knowledge of medical device systems including optics, mechanical, electrical, fluidics and software components. • Familiarity and practice experience in Design for Reliability (reliability requirements allocation, fault-tolerant systems, physics of failure, reliability statistics, reliability modeling and prediction) • Strong knowledge and demonstrated capabilities with modern design methodologies, code generation, and associated tools (for example, Root cause analysis, FMEA, Design of Experiment) • Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with technical teams and drive results. • Experience working with large cross organizational multidisciplinary teams • Strong knowledge and experience in Scrum/Agile product development Required skills to have for the success of this role: • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical/Systems/Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical/Computer Engineering or related discipline with minimum 10+ years of experience in Engineering/R&D • Minimum 7+ years design or systems engineering experience in complex electromechanical instrumentation in a new product development environment. • Minimum 3+ years of experience in Model Based Systems Engineering • Minimum 3+ years of experience in Modeling simulation tools Siemens Healthineers has recently announced the next steps in our continued commitment to prioritize colleague health, comply with customer/business partner requirements, and help preserve our business continuity.
