We are seeking an experienced, high caliber Senior Test & Controls Engineer to support our process development group.  This includes but is not limited to designing and developing new software and hardware to test new and existing products. Investigates and resolves production problems involving test equipment software and hardware. Apply engineering and scientific principles to the evaluation and solution of technical problems. Remain abreast of and consults on technical advancements. Identifies and routinely uses the most effective, cost efficient and best practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness.

Impact this role will have on Abbott

  • Design, develop, and maintain manufacturing test processes, fixtures, and Automated Test Equipment (ATE) for new and existing products.
  • Provide technical support to production and contract manufacturers.
  • Generates project plans and software and hardware documents.
  • Capable of driving multiple project requirements and deliverables.
  • Design/Process validation protocol and report writing.
  • Coordinates transfer of device and test software into production and provides follow-up support to facilitate resolution of problems.
  • Analyze production data to monitor trends and assess process capability.
  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. 
  • Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technical Field
  • Minimum of  5 or more years of experience with board-, box-, and system-level electrical test or test equipment design/development and troubleshooting.
  • Experience developing Automated Test Equipment (ATE) in LabVIEW and familiar with “C” programming or similar programming languages.

  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10%, including internationally.
  • SolidWorks and/or Altium experience is a plus.
