Job Description

The Consumer and Device Sales (CDS) organization works with ecosystem partners to build, market and sell a winning portfolio that delights customers and earns fans around the world.

 

The WW Category team has an opening for a Sr. Windows Commercial Category Manager - Ecosystem Engagement within the WW Windows Commercial category team. This role will be the conduit between the WW team and our teams in Device Partner Sales working with our key ecosystem partners such as HP, Dell, Lenovo, Intel, AMD, Qualcomm and other device partners. You will be responsible for ensuring alignment of go-to-market plans for the Windows Pro, Education and Server businesses across channels that drive the sell-through of devices and ensure target attainment and performance management to drive business growth.  You will also partner with our portfolio planning team to understand our device roadmap and market trends, identifying gaps and advocating across stakeholders to close. You will engage with a high performing community of senior leaders across the CDS teams to drive growth of one of the largest businesses at Microsoft (Windows Pro). 

Responsibilities

1.      Device and Silicon Partner Engagement (40%)

o   Drive the alignment of go-to-market levers and sell-through plans for Windows Pro, Education and Server with our Microsoft teams focused on device partner sales and silicon alignment to ensure sell-in and sell-through plans are aligned to maximize impact.

o   Integrate Microsoft go-to-market plans and results into the regular device and silicon partner engagement cadence, in partnership with the Device Partner Sales team.

o   Drive partnership and alignment with MNA account teams as we develop new sales motions and programs through the channel

o   Ensure set up, execution and success measurement of pilots with the MNA teams to develop new category motions in line with Go-To-Market strategy to learn and grow the business

 

2.      Device Portfolio Management (40%)

o   Generate insights from the field on devices landing in market aligned to global go-to-market priorities and opportunities to grow device assortment and sales through distributors and channel partners.

o   Understand our device portfolio roadmap and market trends, identify gaps and opportunities and work across stakeholders to address within strategy and execution.

o   Represent Commercial Category portfolio strategy in structuring and execution of device programs.

o   Hero device and Feature device landing by region and geo as well as understanding supply constraints

 

3.      M365 BG and GSMO/WCB Alignment (20%)

o   Partner with and influence the M365 product marketing and Modern Workplace segment team to align Go-to-Market initiatives in the Enterprise and SMB space across cloud and device selling motions to include 3rd Party device opportunities that drive cloud growth.

Enable partnership between the Global Sales and Marketing Organization (GSMO) focused on Cloud Sales and CDS field to drive 3rd Party device sales motion into commercial sales processes

 

Key Competencies:

o   Consultative Leadership - Influence device partner sales teams to support the sales motion across the channels and drive go-to-market alignment and portfolio landing.  Ensure clarity with the category field on how device partners will drive go-to-market through direct and channel avenues, enabling the field teams to leverage partner plans in achieving or exceeding revenue and scorecard targets (units sold, revenue), align assortment strategy and volume builds. Proven strategy skills to drive product and marketing investment decisions with references/examples.

o   Planning, Organizing and Executing - Understands business objectives and plans accordingly. Critically reviews multiple plans and adjusts as needed. Proactively communicates and addresses necessary trade-offs. Coaches teams and mentor’s others in planning, organizing and coordinating their work.

o   Collaboration - Removes barriers by working with others around a shared need or customer benefit. Able to maintain a broader perspective and identifies and evaluates opportunities to enhance the business through cross-group collaboration. Incorporates diverse perspectives to thoroughly address complex business issues

o   Analytical Problem Solving - Identifies trends in data to provide perspective and business solutions. Demonstrates an understanding of critical issues that need resolution before problems can be solved. Takes a structured and systematic approach to investigating and solving problems.

o   Drive for Results - Sets clear and challenging goals for a portfolio of work and pursues them with enthusiasm and passion. Forecasts resource needs and timing throughout the course of a project and removes obstacles.

Qualifications

  • Marketing/Business Bachelor’s Degree– MBA preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant commercial experience in Sales/Marketing
  • 3+ years of experience managing remote virtual sales teams
  • Ability to set a plan with clarity and drive it through to fruition
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain partner relationships
  • Proven success at business building (business/channel development, entrepreneur, change management)
  • Executive communication skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders
  • Ability to lead in a complex, matrixed environment
  • Comfort with ambiguity and driving transformation
