Staff Backend Cloud Engineer - Neuromodulation - Plano/Austin, TX

Our Neuromodulation Division in Plano/Austin, TX currently has an opportunity for a Staff Backend Cloud Engineer. The Neuromodulation Cloud Software Operations team manages neurological interfacing computer applications on cloud platforms while ensuring high availability, reliability, and superior quality of service. In this role, you will have an opportunity to participate both in the architecture/design/development of multiple back end services and the Cloud design and deployment leveraging Azure platform. You will be part of creating software applications that scale seamlessly across the globe, work across Android and iOS devices, interface with internal and external systems, enable fast deployments and leverage word class security. You will maintain technology standards, evaluate and direct new technology designs.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Apply solid software design skills to develop micro services for backend web systems. These activities include developing requirements specifications, design, implementation and testing of web software and software algorithms

  • Contribute significantly to completion of various project activities, from definition, identifying software functional requirements, implementation, code reviews, and final release according to medical device development processes

  • Design infrastructure for 24x7 cloud operations in Azure

  • Provide application support for deployments, and operations support for application owners 

  • Oversee the development of new solutions to streamline performance, improve operations and lower costs of Azure applications 

  • Work closely with cross-functional team, be in design reviews with Cyber Security, Marketing, Legal, Regulatory and test engineers to ensure the software design meets the product requirements, including safety, reliability, and serviceability

  • Be creative and innovative in the product development process

  • Make, recommend, or justify critical technical decisions in product design. The decision should be based on broad investigation and testing

  • Document and transfer developed solutions to the DevOps team for deployment and provide technical support and sustaining development in launch phase

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or other related technical field

  • 10+ years of experience as a Software Developer/Engineer. 10+ years hands-on coding experience with C#, .NET, ASP.Net Core, Angular/React/Node JS, SQL Server/PostgreSQL/Azure Cosmos DB

  • 5+ years of experience of designing, implementing and managing applications with Microsoft Azure   

  • Deep understanding of Azure microservice based architecture and operations 

  • Ability to work with Azure monitoring tools like activity logs, application insight data, application monitoring data 

  • Exhibit a passion for technical innovation

  • Solid verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization. Excellent communication and relationship skills, especially the ability to articulate advanced technical topics to non-technical individuals

Preferred

  • Experience with Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) development

  • Microsoft Azure certifications

  • Worldwide deployment of Cloud systems 

  • Experience in data warehousing and high-performance computing environment

  • Data analysis and or AI

  • Masters or PhD degree in Computer Science or related field.
