Job Description

Analog Devices (NASDAQ: ADI) designs and manufactures semiconductor products and solutions. We enable our customers to interpret the world around us by intelligently bridging the physical and digital worlds with unmatched technologies that sense, measure and connect.

Job Location:   San Diego, CA

Principal Job Responsibilities:

This position is also known as Algorithm Design Engineer.  Improve performance of mixed-signal circuit designs by application of digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms. Develop specifications for algorithms based on system requirements. Create and implement DSP algorithms to meet design specifications. Optimize algorithms for efficient use of hardware and software resources. Validate algorithm performance in pre-silicon simulation and post-silicon lab evaluation.  Interface with cross-functional teams of analog and digital circuit designers, evaluation engineers, applications engineers, and marketing managers.  Present design reviews to technical staff and assimilate feedback.

Qualifications

Master's degree (or foreign educational equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or relevant technical discipline (such as Engineering Sciences), plus 2 years of academic, research, or industrial experience, gained at any time, which must have involved: designing high-speed mixed-signal circuits from system specification to layout, including post-layout simulations; modelling analog circuits and their impairments for use in algorithm development and verification; developing DSP-intensive, hardware-efficient algorithms for a digitally-assisted-analog approach to mitigating non-idealities; verifying algorithm performance through mathematical analysis and high-speed simulation using C, MATLAB or other appropriate tools; implementing algorithms in RTL using Verilog or VHDL, ensuring that the design meets timing, area and power constraints; validating system and algorithm performance on silicon during lab evaluation.  Must have solid oral, written, and presentation communication skills to efficiently communicate across a global organization where success is highly dependent on collaboration and effective communication.
