This position belongs to the RF team. This team is responsible for designing
and developing flagship products and supporting the launch of a wide range of
4G and 5G devices. The scope of this role will continue to evolve and grow as
the company expands its expertise to cover more complex product ecosystems and
requirements globally. New innovations and a broadening ecosystem developed by
Lenovo has presented new opportunities and challenges to RF design, RF
performance, RF testing and automation allowing us to be at the forefront of
blazing a new path to market realization.
The RF team plays a key role in our 5G smartphone development process and
transforming new innovative concepts into commercial products. This team
collaborates closely with antenna engineering, go-to-market, customer
technical account management, product management, program management, software
integration, suppliers and other groups, who may be co-located in the Chicago
office or work globally as part of Lenovo. We review critical documentation to
ensure our products meet the global standardizations and specific national
regulatory certifications, such as FCC. We work with transceiver architecture
to design and build electrical circuitry and layouts that meet the
requirements of global carriers. We are looking for a team member with a solid
background in RF design and RF conducted performance measurements. The role
requires to take ownership for ensuring products meet RF performance on a
global scale at all stages of the product life cycle, from development, ship
authorization and post launch.
Lenovo Motorola is in a very aggressive and competitive market. Therefore the
candidate will have to be ready to balance long term strategic goals with the
short-term imperative of shipping products in a very fluid and fast paced
environment.
Scope of Responsibilities:
1\. Concentration in RF circuits, electromagnetic theory and communication
system design
2\. Design of transmitter or receiver circuits that are part of new mobile
phones. Required skills include RF link-budget, simulation, circuit design,
board layout, testing and optimization.
3\. Demonstrate design skills covering a major transceiver circuit block.
Experience with schematic capture, board layout and prototype evaluation is
required.
4\. Working with the RF architecture team to develop and specify next
generation receiver, transmitter and RF front-end components
5\. Collaborating across hardware and software teams to upgrade existing RF
performance and ensure standardization compliance
6\. Manage maintenance, calibration and extension for internal lab equipment
and test systems utilized for RF performance tests
7\. Work with internal Motorola Lenovo global teams (Chicago and China sites)
and external labs / partners located in different time zones
8\. Strong understanding of 3gpp standards, regulatory, and carrier
requirements
#### Position Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
1\. Masters degree in Electrical Engineering with concentration in the areas
of RF, wireless and systems analysis
2\. Minimum 2-years of industry experience on RF design and development
3\. Knowledgeable in RF Front End circuits such as transmitters, receivers,
duplex/diplex filters and related RF circuits/systems
4\. Familiar with RF test equipment (i.e. Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer,
CMW500, Signal generator, etc.)
5\. Understanding of LTE, WCDMA, GSM, CDMA, 5G technologies
6\. Proficiency with ADS, Momentum and MATLAB simulation tools
7\. Prior experience with tools for schematic and PCB design, such as Cadence
8\. Willingness to support global product development, which may include
conference calls in multiple time zones and occasional travel
9\. Ability to work in collaboration with other teams and disciplines
10\. Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal and team-
building skills
Preferred Qualifications:
1\. Experience and familiarity with 5G RF technology
2\. Knowledgeable in WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS/location services standards and
performance requirements
3\. Automation of RF tools to speed up testing
4\. Familiarity with Labview, Java scripts, Python, etc are preferred
5\. Familiarity with Qualcomm chipset solutions, and the organization and
optimization of RF memory
