How will you make an impact?
The Staff Scientist will serve as a scientific expert in techniques of molecular biology, including next-generation sequencing, microarrays and polymerase chain reaction. As a member of a team of Field Application Scientists, the candidate will provide scientific expertise to integrate Liquid Handling Solutions portfolio (consumables, software and instruments) into workflows based on various applications in validated and regulated segments, provide applications/technical support and training to customers. The candidate will work with a multi-disciplinary cross-divisional matrix team, for example commercial representatives, product management, R&D scientists, field application scientists and marketing development managers.
What will you do?
- Develop application specific workflows involving Liquid Handling Solutions products
- Conduct research to generate data highlighting the use of supported products in workflows related to molecular biology
- Design experimental plans, analyze experimental data, perform quantitative analyses, generate laboratory protocols, and write technical reports and product summaries.
- Present workflows by creating technical marketing materials, including application notes, peer-reviewed publications and presenting data at scientific conferences and through webinars.
- Provide field support to our sales organization by providing customers with technical guidance (pre and post sales activities).
- Provide internal training across commercial teams and business unites as needed
- Partner with technical scientists across divisions to create cross-divisional workflows
- Stay current on scientific and industry trends, and participate in VOC to understand customer needs
- Provide market sensing mechanism, identifying new opportunities and highlighting gaps in current portfolio
- Interface with R&D and product management teams
- Support internal business and product development efforts through feedback on innovation pipeline
How will you get here?
Education
- PhD in molecular biology is strongly preferred
- MS or BS in molecular biology plus a minimum of 3 years of experience (≥ 1 year in industrial setting)
Experience
- Requires a minimum 3 years’ experience (industry preferred) with methods and techniques of molecular biology, including PCR and microarray experience.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience required with automated liquid handling expertise, preferably experience with multiple vendor platforms.
- Experience in writing commercially focused scientific and applications literature
- Experience with conducting VoC, participating in new product development programs, and representing customer needs
- Successful candidates will have research experience in Next-Generation Sequencing applications, including hands-on experience with library construction, clonal amplification, reagent formulation and use of the Ion Torrent platform is desirable.
- Experience in planning and executing application projects to support product strategy and sales is a plus.
- Authored scientific publications related to research in molecular biology is highly preferred.
