Job Description
Thermo Fisher Genetic Science Division invites chemistry scientists to join our Global Microarray team. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, results-driven organic synthetic chemist to work on the development of a new proprietary microarray platform.
The position is at the Microarray R&D team in Singapore which is an integral part of our Silicon Valley Microarray R&D Team.
What will you do?
Preferred applicants will demonstrate extensive experience and record of accomplishment in one or more of the following R&D areas: total synthesis, organic or bioorganic chemistry, photolithography chemistry, microarray chemistry, analytical chemistry.
I. Education
PhD in chemistry or in organic synthetic chemistry, or equivalent experience.
II. Hands on Experience and Expertise in
· Applicants should have at least 7 to 10 years of equivalent experience or equivalent experience in chemistry or bioorganic chemistry research.
· Solid knowledge in modern analytic , synthetic organic or bioorganic chemistry is required.
· Various spectroscopic and chromatographic analytical methods, including but not limited to electrochemistry, HPLC, LC/MS, GC, GC/MS, CE, FTIR, Raman, XPS, light scattering, fluorescence, SEM, TEM, qPCR, enzymatic assay, nucleic acid purification/extraction and analysis, molecular mapping, ELISA, SDS-PAGE
· experience with solid-phase DNA synthesis is a plus
· experience with surface chemistry is a plus
· experience in semiconductor industry or with semiconductor chemistry are plus
· analytical chemical methods development, assays development and optimization
III. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
· Ability to develop and document robust, reproducible R&D processes
· Ability to multi-task and manage work efforts on multiple projects according to assigned priorities.
· Excellent adherence to lab and company documentation policies, and a strong demonstrated work ethic
· Fluent English writing and speaking skills are required.
· Ability to work in international time zones and travel to other Thermo Fisher R&D sites
