This position is for a Semiconductor Laser Engineer based in Taipei, Taiwan. As part of Lumentum’s Product Research and Development group you will be a key contributor as Lumentum introduces exciting new 3D sensing laser technology and products. This position will be responsible for overseeing new chip product introduction interacting with a variety of contract manufacturers and customers as the local technical expert.

Job Description

• Support on-site customer visits throughout East Asia as technical expert for Lumentum’s VCSEL based 3DS both existing products and future roadmap capabilities.
• Act as a bridge between US-based R&D team and Taiwan-based contract manufacturers and foundries to shorten cycle time of new product introduction (NPI) addressing both urgent daily and important long-term issues
• Communicate with US based Lumentum R&D, Taiwan-based Lumentum cross-functional operations teams and contract manufacturers to improve execution of: wafer processing, device characterization and reliability qualification
• New product introduction support including new processes and procedures for wafer fabrication and wafer probe and chip-on-carrier characterization
• Hands on failure analysis and special characterization
• Assist with device and fabrication data analysis

Required Qualifications

• MS degree in electrical engineering, physics, or other relevant major. PhD degree is preferred
• 5 years of experience with optoelectronic device design, wafer fabrication and/or epitaxial growth.
• Knowledge of basic semiconductor device physics, process technology and equipment,
• Experience with software data analysis tools (such as Excel, JMP, Minitab), photomask layout, and data processing (Python, Matlab)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with VCSEL devices
• Experience with device modeling and device simulation
• Strong communication skills
