Financial Shared Services (FSS) EMEA based in Krakow, Poland is serving as a controllership function for affiliates and manufacturing plants in all countries, providing support in accounting, tax, statutory and selected order to cash processes. Reporting to Senior Statutory and Indirect Tax Accounting Manager EMEA, Statutory Reporting Manager is responsible for managing the team from operational perspective, plan, coordinate and support local statutory accounting and reporting processes for the assigned countries in EMEA region, provides global or regional Subject Matter Expertise in a given complex statutory accounting or statutory process area/s, provides guidance and technical supervision to team members, drives implementation of improvements initiatives and acts as a backup for Senior Statutory and Indirect Tax Accounting Manager EMEA. Major Responsibilities: Team supervision and regional co-ordination: Leading a functional work team within Statutory Accounting focused on the accurate and timely completion of compliance reviews and reporting Providing guidance and process expertise to the team Perform employee selection, appraisal and performance feedback. Maintain good employee relations through effective communications. Provide leadership, coaching and training to personnel. Assuring people development Identifying, recommending and assisting in implementation of best practices to gain efficiency and driving productivity gains First point of communication with the third party service providers/auditors, Tax Centre of Excellence to adequately plan the upcoming statutory compliance cycles by liaising with all relevant stakeholders Oversee the daily statutory compliance activities Lead the audit preparation and all other projects assigned Constantly look for improvement opportunities and drive implementation (compliance, quality and process efficiency) Statutory accounting: Preparation of the statutory filing in line with Local GAAP requirements, including all notes and disclosures Reconciliation between local GAAP and US GAAP: validating that all documents have been posted to local ledgers Local GAAP Account reconciliations Coordination of calendar with external auditors, tax department and service providers Support the process of local tax provision calculation and income tax return Interpretation and roll out of local accounting policy/standards Perform the local GAAP accounting close per year end Direct liaison with external auditors, actuaries, tax &, legal organization, etc. Coordinate deliverables for external audit Manage the Statutory calendar with external auditors, tax department and service providers Support the process of local tax provision calculation and income tax return Miscellaneous reporting filings (e.g. statistical reporting) Lead additional special project within statutory area. Provide global or regional Subject Matter Expertise in a given complex statutory accounting or statutory process area/s, gaining recognition from key stakeholders (FSS Leads and Managers, FSS Director, Controllers, Finance Director in the Affiliates) Provide guidance and technical supervision to new or more junior team members Propose, drive and implement initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and quality of the statutory process Act as a backup for Senior Statutory and Indirect Tax Accounting Manager EMEA Qualifications A driven, energetic person with very strong accounting expertise, able to act as focal point between different stakeholders, multitask and meet fixed deadlines. Master’s Degree in accounting and hands-on accounting experience (9+ years) in an international environment (pharma sector is a plus) ACCA qualification or equivalent is a plus Experience in managing full local statutory compliance process for selected European countries for at least 5 years Proven track of records in people management (5+ teams) Proved experience of successful participation in cross-regional projects At least 3 years of experience in effective liaison with external audit Strong computer skills, particular experience with Excel and SAP Professional proficiency of English, any other language would be an asset Critical mindset to be able to challenge tools and processes in use while promoting business development Ability to multitask and deal with time constraints while effectively managing deadlines A sound business sense with excellent numerical skills Excellent communication and presentation skills Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization and at stakeholders’ side Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset and drive for excellence Travel Yes, 5 % of the Time Job Type Experienced Schedule Full-time Job Level Code IC Equal Employment Opportunity At AbbVie, we value bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds to develop new and innovative solutions for patients.
