Stewarding Supervisor

What you will be doing:

  • Lead, teach, coach, and inspire a team of up to 50 staff, including Stewards, Van drivers, and equipment stockers for the day, evening, or night team
  • Ensure all colleagues arrive for their shift on time, well-groomed, and ready to work
  • Assign work station to all colleagues during line-up and pass on events and information
  • Ensure that all colleagues are following the proper procedures and standards set in place by the department and the hotel
  • Responsible for the opening and closing shift
  • Ensure that all Kitchens are Cleaned, Organized, and sanitized
  • Ensure all daily tasks list are completed
  • Ensuring inter-departmental communication and cooperation in the interest of better guest satisfaction
  • Ensure that garbage & recycling removal is being done in a timely manner and done according to the rules set in place by the hotel
  • Assist in the correct usage of all chemicals within the department and outlets, including appropriate training in accordance with provincial WHMIS legislation
  • Conduct individual development discussion and performance reviews as assigned on a monthly basis
  • Conduct performance discussions and ensure all progressive corrective actions forms are completed correctly and in a timely manner
  • Assist any outlets and culinary team for any kind of resource request
  • Ensure all equipment is cleaned, maintained, and properly stored after an event
  • Attend and participate in departmental meetings
  • Perform walkthrough with Executive Chef and Executive Sous chef  on a regular basis
  • Ensure all storage rooms are kept clean and organized
  • Foster an environment of cooperation within the department and between other departments within the hotel. Encourage participation and input from all colleagues while promoting professional work habits that will ensure that the department is being guided at all times by Fairmont’s Mission, Vision and Values
  • Have a proactive eye for detail and cleanliness
  • Actively participate in hotel committees
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment, and actively participate in health and safety initiatives
  • Adhere to all hotel environmental policies and initiatives
  • Carry out any other tasks as assigned

Your experience and skills include:

  • Previous experience in food and beverage required
  • Knowledge of Food and Beverage and Stewarding an asset
  • Previous leadership experience is an asset
  • A Valid Alberta Driver’s License is an asset
  • First aid, WHMIS, and Food Safe Handling course an asset
  • Self‑motivated, with the ability to make effective decisions
  • Demonstrates initiative, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain high service levels under pressure
  • Physically fit to lift trays repeatedly, stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
  • You may be required to work on holidays, weekends, overnights, and other non-day shifts. Submission of your application to Fairmont Hotel Macdonald indicates that you are able to meet these requirements as needed.
