Location/Division Specific Information:
This position is based at our Grand Island, NY site. This will be a Sunday – Thursday second shift, hours are 2pm-10:30pm.
What will you do?
• Support the establishment and maintenance of storage control performance metrics.
• Provide strong leadership direction working within a diverse workforce / management support (coaching, performance management development (PMD’s), training, issue resolution, etc.) to associates.
• Supervise the activities of all personnel on assigned shift; execute operations to ensure daily safety and quality shipment objectives are achieved
• Take ownership of safety initiatives including incident investigations and reporting within the required timeframe. Participate in safety walkthroughs and continuous improvement activities.
• Support inventory accuracy activities to achieve annual targets for the Grand Island Site.
• Support storage inventory management processes (work order closures, bin checks, proper onsite and offsite storage by temperature, maintain quality samples, etc.).
• Support daily team effort of manufacturing support (re-palletize, wrap and band pallets, use various PIV’s to get pallets to appropriate storage conditions).
• Drive accountability for team involvement including, but not limited to procedure trainings, Gemba Walks, JDI’s and daily 5S duties.
• Provide role-model leadership in driving change to achieve continuous improvement through Lean best practices in Warehousing, Material Flow and Logistics.
• Serve as a point of escalation for Customer, Supplier and/or Manufacturing supply issues.
• Support and contribute to continuous improvement activities for service level performance.
• Help management review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) ensuring consistent and reliable processes and procedures comply with all regulations and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
• Maintain work areas within the spirit and guidelines of 5S in accordance with Lean manufacturing and company guidelines.
How will you get here?
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree preferred.
Experience:
• 2-3 years of experience within a distribution/operations environment
• Minimum of one year of leadership experience in a team lead or team leader position
• Demonstrated ability to motivate teams and establish goals, metrics, data and plans to achieve organizational objectives.
• Experience coaching, interviewing, and proven track record of issue resolution.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with key internal and external customers / suppliers; including success functioning as a change agent / team leader and team member in a multi-skilled, dynamic and matrix business environment.
• Knowledge of lean material concepts and application in warehousing and logistics.
• MRP experience, Knowledge E1 a plus.
• MS-Office Capabilities (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Experience and certified training with a wide array of Powered Industrial Trucks, preferred.
Working conditions:
Works in a warehouse environment and may operate under various temperatures including room temperature (15-30 degrees C), cold-room (2-8 degrees C), and/or Freezer-room (minus 5-minus20 degrees C). Constant motions of walking, bending and lifting to 40 lbs. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. May intermittently sit at a desk for a long period of time to answer the telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Occasional local travel may be required.
