Job Description

Albemarle is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Leader in Charlotte, NC.

• Source Tollers and 3rd Party Suppliers for  Bromine Global business Unit.

• Identify and evaluate new Tollers. 

• Work constructively with the plant to evaluate and approve new Tollers.

• Set Strategy for Tollers in support of Research and Technology Teams.  Evaluate technical capability of tollers and align technology with requirements.  

• Develop, and Manage the Toller /3rd party contracts. (ie Quality, Service, Cost).

• Ensure contracts are in alignment with Albemarle Procurement procedures.

• Control costs and develop strategies for minimizing raw material costs.

• Continuously improve and innovate ways of doing business to achieve optimal scalability and effectiveness.

Supplier Management & Business Management:

• Develop & maintain an expert understanding of your respective toller technical capabilities.  Continually seek to drive toller productivity improvements.

• Mitigate Single Toller Risk Management to ensure security of supply.

• Routinely meet with Business and R&T to have a forward looking toller requirement plan.

Contractual Documents:

• Ensure that all business relationships within the area of responsibility are protected by appropriate contractual documents.

• Prepare, manage & oversee implementation of contractual documentation for suppliers within area of responsibility. 

• Uses and advises on Albemarle templates to ensure Albemarle's interests are protected under the law.

Commercial Negotiations & Sourcing Arrangements:

• Develop global tolling/3rd party sourcing for key Tolled Products.

• Work collaboratively with Key Stakeholders in (R&T, Business, Manufacturing etc.)  to effectively manage toller expectations,  contracts and changes. 

• Develop, review, negotiate and execute complex business agreements and contracts.  

Data Management:

• Facilitate the use of analytics to understand and identify cost trends.

• Have strong knowledge of ERP systems (SAP) databases, and how to enter contract information and extract information.

• Ensure internal communication when appropriate.

Knowledge / Abilities / Skills:

• Business Acumen.

• Builds Partnership.

• Deep understanding of Corporate Categories.

• Advanced knowledge of Contract development, Supplier Relationship Management, Negotiation.

• Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.

• Adaptable, Flexible, Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating.

• Travel less than 15% of time.

Education / Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering and/or Procurement field.

• 5 +years direct work experience in chemical procurement or Tolling.

• Knowledge of the Chemical industry category preferable.
