Strategic Country Sourcing Senior Manager

Reports to: Strategic Sourcing Director

Grade Level: 6

Location: Mississauga Head Office - Flexible Commuter (Remote)

Will require occasional work from Mississauga office

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world! In this vital role you will partner with stakeholders in sourcing goods and or services having aligned with Amgen’s sourcing policies and processes. You will also partner with the stakeholders and Global Category Manager in the development of appropriate sourcing strategies for our Canadian Affiliate. Other responsibilities include:
 

Local, ad-hoc sourcing:

  • Opportunity identification: identify local improvement opportunities with respect to management of Purchase demand, Supply base and Total Cost on a local level

  • Requirements definition: identify and define specific collaborator requirements;

  • Tendering: define evaluation/selection criteria, define and lead RFI and RFP processes based on the local sourcing strategy, derived from the category sourcing strategy;

  • Supplier Selection: evaluate and negotiate proposals, ensure and validate selection of the best supplier;

  • Supplier Contracting: complete and implement the contract as per legal standards and local sourcing policies and guidelines;
     

Category management:

  • Supply base analysis: supervise, analyze and report Affiliate’s actual spend, trends, forecasts and Supplier base data;

  • Strategy development: participate in Global category strategy development and in Global Sourcing teams

  • Sourcing strategy implementation: support Strategic Sourcing communication and integration.
     

Supplier performance:

  • Continue to use SRM programs to reduce enterprise risk and to gain access to external innovations

  • Performance Monitoring: supervise and report supplier performance based on pre-determined, relevant and measurable metrics

  • Supplier performance improvement: establish, agree and implement improvement plans.
     

Reporting:

  • Benefits tracking: develop, implement, maintain and report Key Performance Indicators that clearly reflect the achievement of objectives in each business area

Compliance and Controls:

  • Emphasize and communicate dedication to compliance and ethics cross-functionally, including driving awareness of sourcing policies with business partners and improve compliance across the organization

  • Educate affiliate members of the sourcing policy and ensure policy is compliance in affiliate.

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of sourcing, and/or any combination of Finance, Supply Chain, Business Operations, Engineering and Management Consulting experience, Project Management experience (team or direct)

  • OR

  • Master’s degree and 4 years of sourcing, and/or any combination of Finance, Supply Chain, Business Operations, Engineering and Management Consulting experience, Project Management experience (team or direct)

  • OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of sourcing, and/or any combination of Finance, Supply Chain, Business Operations, Engineering and Management Consulting experience, Project Management experience (team or direct)

  • OR

  • Associate’s degree and 10 years of sourcing, and/or any combination of Finance, Supply Chain, Business Operations, Engineering and Management Consulting experience, Project Management experience (team or direct)

  • OR

  • High school diploma / GED and 12 years of sourcing, and/or any combination of Finance, Supply Chain, Business Operations, Engineering and Management Consulting experience, Project Management experience (team or direct)
     

Experience in any of the following indirect categories:

  • PSP

  • Fleet

  • Market research and Data

  • Meeting Agencies

  • Marketing Agencies

  • Medical communications agencies

  • Travel

  • Printing and Fulfillment

  • Logistics/Warehousing Services

  • Professional/Consulting Services

  • Facilities/Real Estate
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4 years of purchasing experience in a profit driven and international environment

  • Purchasing knowledge: sourcing process, commodity management and analysis, supplier management and development, pricing theory and policy, negotiation, supply chain, make or buy.

  • Experience with RFP/RFI/RFx processes, supplier negotiations and contracting

  • Experience in addressing leadership team

  • Experience in either leading or participating in cross functional or regional projects

  • Business process related training

  • Proficiency in multiple languages especially English and French is an asset

  • Experience with ERP (SAP, Ariba)

  • Excellent digital literacy (MS-office environment)

  • Intermediate Excel skills (eg. pivot tables)
