Operations Strategic Planning and Risk (OSPR) is the internal management consulting arm of Operations which delivers significant value to a diverse set of internal leaders. A key aspect of the value we deliver to Operations is leading the Operations Business Resilience Program. Amgen’s Business Resilience program is vital to our ability to serve patients with uninterrupted supply of our essential medicines. We are seeking a highly motivated leader for the Business Resilience Leader role reporting to Director, Strategic Resource Planning. You will be an integral member of a high performing team chartered to deliver comprehensive analytics that support unbiased network recommendations to build value for Operations
In this pivotal role you will lead a global network consisting of business resilience leads who represent their respective area within Operations (Manufacturing, Supplier Management, Engineering, Quality, EHS, etc.). It also provides a unique opportunity to lead, support, and network with teams in developing strategies and delivering comprehensive analytics that bolster’s Amgen’s ability to serve Every Patient, Every Time. Focus areas include Risk Management, Business Continuity Management and Crisis Management
Job Responsibilities
- Provides subject matter expertise that supports the business resilience program across Amgen’s supply network to ensure continuity of essential medicines globally.
- Developing cross-functional business cases for key manufacturing process areas and risk mitigation strategies
- Support the broader Operations Strategic Planning and Risk team as they serve as thought partners across process areas (drug substance, drug product, finished drug product, distribution, business development and risk); developing recommendations, driving decisions and delivering presentations to the Operations Leadership Team
- Fosters an effective network of site / functional business resilience contacts to ensure the program remains consistent and aligned with evolving business needs
- Designs and facilitates risk relevant exercises at the site and functional level
- Engages with manufacturing site business resilience contacts to drive program implementation including completion of effective business impact assessments, risk reviews, vulnerability assessments and risk mitigation plans.
- Leads the development of product end to end risk reviews, partnering to establish contingency strategies
- Develops and maintains assessment and reporting tools to enable evaluation, communication, and escalation of potential impacts / risks. Uses established risk governance processes to drive mitigation and response plans
- Drives continuous improvement opportunities to increase program effectiveness including application of digital tools / systems for performance of assessments and associated action tracking.
- Monitors and responds to potential / actual disruptive events. Actively participates and supports crisis management teams Monitors business resilience regulatory/compliance developments, industry trends, best practices, to facilitate operational readiness.
Basic Qualifications
- Doctorate degree & 2 years of Operations or Life Sciences experience OR
- Master’s degree & 4 years of Operations or Life Sciences experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree & 6 years of Operations or Life Sciences experience OR
- Associate degree & 10 years of Operations or Life Sciences experience OR
- High school diploma / GED and 12 years of experience
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or advanced degree in engineering, finance, business management or life sciences
- 6+ years of biotech or pharmaceutical operations/manufacturing/process development/supply chain experience
- Knowledge of drug development, manufacturing processes, regulatory issues, end-to-end supply chain
- Experience in quantitative and qualitative skills including financial analysis, risk assessments and product life cycle management
- Good business insight, high-level critical thinking and strong analytical skills
- · Excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to use statistical analysis software
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities, priorities and tasks with minimal direction
- Ability to operate in a matrixed or team environment with site, divisional and corporate executive leadership
- Ability to lead a high-volume of projects at a time while consistently delivering quality end-product
