Job fit within organisation and/or fit within team: This role sits within the Commercial Team, within the Mars Chocolate Drinks & Treats business & is based in Maidenhead.

Description of the job: The jobholder is responsible for identifying and implementing new supply solutions with third party manufacturers, maintaining existing supplier relationships and generating value. This role is key in the generation of strong growth for Drinks and Treats. It is different to a traditional buying role, being very much focussed on growth generation in addition to optimising costs & protecting our business through robust legal agreements. Key internal stakeholders are across Demand, Supply and R&D. The jobholder will be required to negotiate with senior external stakeholders to deliver the required results.

 

Key Outputs  

 

In this role you will:

• Identify & implement comanufacturers to deliver the supply solution for the D&T business in UK and Europe, ensuring that capacity exists to future-proof the business.

• Work with relevant stakeholders to support business strategy & deliver the growth ambition

• Identify and implement profit improving, cost reduction initiatives. Engage with R&D, Supply, Marketing and Finance colleagues to make these happen.

• Leverage excellent value for money through exploiting economies of scale.

• Establish & maintain effective procure-to-pay procedures for each product.

• Negotiate legal agreements with legal counsel & senior supplier personnel, typically GM’s & business owners.

• Lead & manage Commercial aspects of all assigned categories including ongoing price negotiations, new product development, growth initiatives & resolution of issues. Ensure the P&L for each product delivers against the D&T financial targets.

 

Background/Experience

 

• Ideally educated to degree level or with procurement experience
• Ability to thrive in a small business environment & tenacity to overcome hurdles
• Good financial acumen & communication skills.
• Ability to influence colleagues & peers within MW & our portfolio of external partners including senior supplier personnel
