The Opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity within our Strategy team, we are looking for a new Strategy Manager who will support the Head of Strategy in the implementation of AIA New Zealand’s Strategy, including working with divisions on implementing specific strategic initiatives to support the achievement of AIA NZ’s Strategy.

The Strategy Manager will monitor and advise in respect of the regulatory and competitive environment ensuring the Board and Executive Team are provided with appropriate insight to support strategic decisions. 

The Strategy Manager will support the Head of Strategy in all strategic matters and influence across the organisation.

About the Role:

  • Facilitate strategy discussions with business units to develop business unit strategies.
  • Provide support to the business units in the identification and implementation of strategic initiatives necessary to support the delivery of the strategy.
  • Prepare presentations and papers for senior management, Board, and Group office to show progress against strategic initiatives.
  • Provide support to and ensure business units have clear, actionable and aligned strategies in place.
  • Monitor and analyse the Strategic Radar, providing insight and recommendations in respect to changes to the strategic initiatives. Contribute in ‘Deep Dive’ sessions with the business units.
  • Monitor and analyse the local and global landscape, including competitor analysis, and provide insights and recommendations in respect to changes to the strategic initiatives ensuring Sovereign remains agile and responsive to the market.
  • Provide support and insight to the development of the three yearly and annual strategy review and refresh for Sovereign.
  • Provide support and input to the annual Strategic Planning Process.
  • Provide support and insight to the annual planning process for Sovereign and provide input to the annual and three year financial plan and Strategic Investment Pool.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of the external operating environment including the economy, competitors and digital.
  • Assist with any other projects or initiatives as they arise.

About you:

  • Strategy development and implementation experience.
  • Tertiary Qualification in Commerce, Management or other relevant field.
  • Financial services experience with insurance experience ideal.
  • Experienced in creating business cases and financial models.
  • Create presentations for senior management to facilitate strategic discussions.
  • Strong understanding of process and ability to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ability to package information effectively for senior audiences.
  • Experience in business planning and strategy formulation and implementation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, including strong financial acumen, reasoning and logic.
  • Strong written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Experience influencing at the Executive and Senior Management level.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams and to effect positive cultural change.
  • Strong coaching and mentorship skills.
