Eaton’s Electrical sector is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team. This position is based at our Omaha, NE facility. Position Overview: In this role you will prepare all necessary structural drawings for assigned projects including in partnership with customer engineers, sales support, and operations team members. Drawings may include, cubicles, weldment, bus bar, foundation, and additional enclosure pieces in alignment with customer specifications. A foundational knowledge of drafting principles and standards will help you provide a wide variety of technically sound drawings. In this function you will: Support the customer engineers with analysis and integration of customer requests. Prepare complex layouts, sketches and drawings relating to new and modified equipment specifications. Develop layouts and sketches for engineering tests to determine the acceptance applications, operating characteristics, or performance of components of assemblies. Partner with supply chain to ensure relevant parts/products are ordered to meet on time performance. Participate in value stream mapping events, audits, time studies, create work instructions, work to improve processes throughout the facility. Work through modifications and adjustments with operations, engineering, and support teams. Assist in the design of building components for our metal clad switchgear products. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Must have a High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution. Minimum of two (2) years of engineering or relevant manufacturing experience. Minimum of one (1) year of AutoCAD experience. Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the work location will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Preferred Qualifications: An Associate’s degree in Drafting & Design, Industrial Electronics or Electronic Engineering Technology that includes coursework in drafting principles (CAD). Two (2) years of experience creating 3D models/Drawings in AutoCAD/Inventor. Preparing BOM’s, calculate material costs, review suppliers, building/roof design, cubicle design. Experience in Blocks/Library’s for AutoCAD. Experience with drawing management software. Position Criteria: Proficient in Microsoft Office. Previous experience of interpreting and engineering customer requests. Working knowledge of weld symbols and ANSI standards for drawings. Willing to develop understanding of stack tolerances for assemblies. We know that good benefit programs are important to employees and their families.
