The successful candidate will have the knowledge and ability to actively engage in deal structure, underwriting and analysis of new transactions as well as monitor an existing portfolio for large and complex loans to high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients. Experience across all loan products offered to private bank clients is preferred as there will be an opportunity to work on a wide variety of loans.  

This particular role requires 5+ years experience underwriting loans for the Private Equity industry including capital call lines, and loans to partners and fund management companies.  This is a targeted industry of focus for BNY Mellon so there is excellent growth opportunity for the selected candidate. The candidate should possess strong leadership skills and an ability to collaborate across multiple lines of business including wealth management, investment management and planning teams as well as the alternatives and asset management teams in the institutional bank.

You will make credit decisions and recommendations in accordance with Private Banking policies and procedures working in collaboration with PB leadership team and Credit Risk

As a structured lender you are expected to complete high quality underwriting documents on a timely basis, determine credit risk and mitigants and assign credit risk rating. This includes evaluating the future performance of a borrower or prospect under various economic scenarios. S/He works with Private Bankers and Wealth Management relationship managers throughout the loan application and approval process and meets with clients to determine need and advise on deal structure.   

Qualifications

The qualified candidate will have a BA/BS in business or equivalent experience with 6+ years of Commercial/Private Banking/Private Equity lending experience or 6+ years of commercial lending-related experience, such as credit recovery or credit policy, or 8+ years complex financial analysis with 4+ years of supervisory experience., Specialized knowledge of complex products/businesses as for the segment of business assignment is required. Completion of a bank credit training program is preferred.  S/He must have excellent communication skills, and knowledge of and experience in the use of computer software. An MBA is a plus.
