Student Employability Officer

Role and Responsibilities
The Employability Officer is a key role in International Business School Suzhou at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (IBSS@XJTLU) to oversee and implement student career development strategy, manage industry engagement and student work placement opportunities, and support student career development at IBSS.
As part of the Learning and Teaching function of IBSS, the post holder is responsible to Senior Employability Officer, and will work closely with internal and external stakeholders including Research/Business Engagement, external partners, employers, Career Services, and other university departments where required. The post holder is responsible for student employability enhancement during their study and support all aspect of student career management i.e. career planning, campus-career transit, job hunting and transferrable skills development, along with other works in career consultations, bringing resources to build on career services excellence and expand further opportunities on the job market.

Student Career Development Coaching
Provide students with professional, individualized career guidance and support;
Work closely with Faculty members and relevant university departments to develop student employability programmes;
Deliver workshops and seminars to enhance student understanding of career development and management, career related skills and industry-specific job search information and processes;
Gather employer feedback through various channels, analyse the gap between student capability and employer expectation, and interpret into action plans for development;

Consultations and Student Support:
Arrange and offer one-to-one consultation sessions to students upon request;
Plan, record and review consultation processes, results and follow-ups, maintaining the professional execution of consultation progresses;

Industry Engagement
Manage relationships with industrial partners
Explore recruiting demands and trends with company recruiters, XJTLU alumni, and hiring managers, thereby improving companies’ recruiting outcomes;
Work closely with the Corporate Engagement team to align student and employer needs and to maximize the effectiveness of the on-campus recruiting process;
Search and provide job opportunities globally
Work with the team to manage and support events such as Career Fair, On Campus Recruitment Sessions, Employer Open House, Career Guest Speaking and other relevant activities;

Other Responsibilities
Support important areas such as supervision of fellows, interns and student workers. Work with the Admissions team for the MSc programs to assist with recruitment efforts.
