Job Description

OFFICE OF COUNSELLING AND WELLNESS 

Student Guidance Officer (Ref. 20061816-E) 

Duties 

The appointee will be required to:

(a) provide support in planning and organising programmes and activities for enhancing students’ all-round development including: 

- outreaching and marketing to potential participants through class visits, promotion of activities on campus/student halls and student orientation; 

- training of student helpers; 

- development of programme guidebooks/self-help materials to enhance students’ learning; 

- programme evaluation; and 

- project management; 

(b) assist in supporting students in their developmental agenda, e.g. providing guidance to students experiencing transient anxiety in the new learning environment; 

(c) coach and supervise student leaders/mentors/helpers to enable them to support and help fellow students in various developmental activities; 

(d) administer student surveys or evaluation of programmes/services including data collection, compilation of statistical reports and report writing; 

(e) supervise supporting staff on aspects related to programme implementation; 

(f) provide secretarial support to committees/meetings; 

(g) draft/compile documents/reports/replies to enquiries/complaints whenever necessary; 

(h) coordinate and maintain an e-filing system with proper documentation; 

(i) liaise with internal departments and external organisations; and 

(j) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Office or his/her delegates. 

The appointee may be required to work on irregular hours. 

Qualifications 

Applicants should have:

(a) a recognised degree, preferably in Social Work, Psychology, Education or other relevant disciplines; 

(b) some relevant experience, preferably in working with university students; 

(c) a good command of both English and Chinese. Fluency in Putonghua will be an advantage; 

(a) an outgoing personality, good social skills and a passion in serving young people; and 

(b) a good command of computer knowledge. 

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written language proficiency test. 

Remuneration and Conditions of Service 

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
