Position Title: Student Support Leader

Duties: Primary School Student Support Leader Oversees the efforts regarding student: learning support, counseling support, discipline management, community outreach and social/emotional well-being.

Reporting Relationship: Primary School Student Support Leader reports to the Pastoral Deputy Head of Primary, and interfaces with: all Primary Faculty, School Operations and Administration Departments, Parents and Students.

Requirements:
1.Bachelor or advanced degree in student affairs, or a related field.
2.At least 5 years’ experience in student support, student affairs, or a related field.
3.Degree, license or endorsement in Special Education.
4.Excellent oral and written communication skills in both Chinese and English.
5.Excellent planning, collaboration, and leadership skills.
6.Able to effectively coach and deliver constructive feedback.
7.Rich experience in working successfully with Chinese student population with the age range of 7-12.
8.Experience in working in an international school setting and familiarity with the IB PYP program.
9.Knowledge of student development, counseling, learning support and discipline.
10.Knowledge of and experience in using a variety of assessments and applying differentiated learning techniques.
11.Knowledge of policies and regulations about Safety and Child Protection.
12.Knowledge of positive discipline.
13.knowledge of resources, both within and beyond the school
14.Experience with classroom inclusion.
15.Demonstrate commitment to school improvement.
16.Demonstrate a passion for teacher and student success.
17.Demonstrate a positive, optimistic, can-do attitude.
18.Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness.

Responsibilities:
1.Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure that all students in primary can make progress and achieve according to their potential.
2.Respond effectively to critical incidents affecting teaching and learning.
3.Help students through one-to-one instruction, small-group instruction, and whole-class instruction.
4.Providing professional development training, resources, and materials to individual teachers, grade-level teams, in the development and implementation of engaging teaching strategies and/or positive behavior supports upon request.
5.Collaborates with the school's staff and acts as a liaison with the community, special education students, and their families.
6.Plan and lead the parent workshops in parental involvement in motivating and supporting their child at home.
7.Plan and lead the student support team to teach targeted intervention lessons, assess and report on student progress.
8.Lead and participates in student team meeting, SOC meeting and other educational team meetings.
9.Participates as a leading member of the student support team to facilitate development and implementation of positive behavior supports and effective instructional practices across special education settings.
10.Provides guidance and training to student support teachers in IEP development, review, and revision.
11.Participates as a leading member of the student support team to review and updates policies, guidelines in relation to student support.
12.Monitors the development, reviewing, updating of IEPs with student support staff.
13.Keeps current with changes in technology and special education regulations and guidelines that impact the provision of special education services.
14.Develop and monitor programs and initiatives to address students needs in social and emotional development, discipline, and student safety.
15. Makes decisions consistent with the school's mission, vision, and core values establishes and Give regular reports on progress to the Head and Pastoral Deputy Head of Primary.
16.Support parent/guardian referrals to outside agencies for assistance.
17. Other duties as assigned.
