Mingtiandi is Asia’s best-known real estate news and information website and we are looking for a qualified business journalist to join our team in Bangkok.

Our daily updates on the region’s property markets are read by industry leaders from Morgan Stanley, Blackstone, and Sun Hung Kai Properties, and we are looking for a sub-editor who can fulfill our audience’s demanding standards for precise information and clear language.

During 2020 Mingtiandi plans to expand its award-winning coverage, and we are counting on stars like you to help build our reputation as the source that the New York Times, FT and Wall Street Journal turn to for the inside story on Asian real estate. 

Responsibilities

• Working with the managing editor to select and assign stories to local writers
• Copy editing stories created by local reporters to ensure clarity, language quality and suitability for the audience
• Creating stories from press releases and announcements to fit the needs of the publication’s audience
• Writing headlines and subheadlines for articles on the website
• Typical quantity of stories to be edited would be 5 stories per day of 600-800 words each
• Choosing and editing images to ensure they meet site guidelines
• Posting edited text to the CMS and entering relevant SEO information
• Ensuring that all stories submitted to the site by writers are ready for publication within two hours of submission time

Qualifications

• At least two years previous professional experience as a business journalist is required, preferably with a fast-paced news organisation
• Detailed understanding of Asian economies and markets is required
• Demonstrated knowledge of real estate or finance is preferred
• Professional-level English writing ability is required

Compensation

• Compensation will be in line with the background and demonstrated abilities of the candidate
