Job Description

The Surface Product Marketing Manager is the local Surface business group leader and subject matter expert who drives attainment of the billed revenue and unit targets, profitably, through marketing activities, through-partner / direct sales programs and incentives.

We do this in a way that builds millions of fans, helps businesses be more effective, establishes meaningful new categories that transform productivity whist also increasing market share, revenue and gross margin for Microsoft.

 

Your role is to focus the sales and marketing teams across the subsidiary on how Surface can help modernize our customer’s workplaces as organizations look for ways to transform their businesses, recruit, hire and retain the best employees, and attract customers who are buying in new ways.

Responsibilities

Core Surface Marketing Responsibilities:

Our core priorities for the Surface business are:

  1. Lead the Surface Business through a ONE Microsoft approach: Build internal and external engagement across your stakeholders to execute the Surface Commercial Strategy.
  2. Accelerate growth in all customer segments. 
  3. Drive a healthy, profitable channel to achieve growth in partnership with PDM Manager and channel team
  4. Build a premium portfolio brand GTM that delivers the best of Modern Workplace and Modern Classroom
  5. Establish a sustainable, scalable and compliant operating model.

 

Your responsibilities as a Surface PMM (Enterprise and Operation) include:

 

Plan

  • Lead the subsidiary efforts to launch new services Devices and Accessories. Ensure local PR, marketing and sales efforts including Early Adopter Program are aligned and ready at announce.
  • Develop strong partnerships with cross-BG teams, Surface SSPs/TSPs and broaden our reach by leveraging compelling external partnerships like Steelcase.
  • Collaborate with the CDS Surface Consumer team to ensure that plans and offer strategy are aligned.
  • Lead demand planning to make sure supply availability when demand happens.
  • Lead seasonal promo planning and end of life promo planning and effectively drive sales campaigns.

Execute

  • Deliver forecasting accuracy for Commercial IPQ, increasing Surface portfolio sales and premium mix vs. budget. Strengthen customer engagement through EAP/CAB in applicable markets. Manage End-of-Life transitions during product launch periods.
  • Showcase Surface value through marquis brand and customer stories and local commercial digital marketing to increase KPIs across the funnel. Drive local marketing efforts including PR, digital, events, GEP (where applicable) to increase committed pipeline coverage and through partner sales. Deliver great Surface experiences through MTC Zero, EBC Engagements and presence in local industry/trade events.

Measure

  • Grow the of awareness, perception and consideration (launch +90 days) in local market.
  • Customer Stories and Case Studies. Develop number of customer stories and case studies showcasing the best of the Surface portfolio
  • Billed Revenue. Increase commercial billed revenue and % attach to Microsoft 365 deals
  • Demand forecast accuracy.
  • Drive a high Surface premium mix.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 5-8 years related experience

 

Skills & Knowledge

  • Partner and customer focused
  • Understand product advocacy and evangelism
  • Core marketing experience (positioning and messaging)
  • Being a conduit between technology and the business with the voice of customer in mind
  • Role model for Microsoft values
  • Excellent communicator in Japanese (fluent) and English (business)
  • Strong ability to influence for impact
