Molding Production Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Supervisor will be responsible for the overall operating performance of a shift plastics molding operation. This position will work collaboratively with the Area or Shift Lead(s) to execute production schedules with emphasis on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and culture. Ensure increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of manpower, materials, and machines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in molding plastic products, applying knowledge of molding machine setup and operating techniques and production machining methods: Reads operating logs to identify inoperative injection molding machines, determines reasons for machine malfunction, and arranges for machine repair.
• Responsible for assuring assigned shift meets key performance indicator (KPI) goals in the areas of safety, quality, production, delivery, and culture.
• Reviews daily production schedule for the department to plan work and personnel assignments for the shift(s).
• Supervises and directs personnel on shift in performing operations according to sound operating principals and company policies and procedures. Includes safety training and company safety and accident prevention procedures.
• Coordinate’s workflow and develops teamwork to attain shift/department objectives.

• Anticipates and determines causes of misses in shift’s KPIs.
• Reports promptly to production manager and/or site manager when KPI misses occur. Estimates impacts on overall operation and prepares recover plans and corrective actions.
• Prepares required forms for shift employees and forwards to production manager and/or human resources for approval.
• Manages inventory levels and creates purchasing requests, as needed.
• Conducts orientation and training of new hires, including safety policies and procedures.
• Assures 6S standards are sustained.
• Available to work overtime as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education/Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and or any field related to the function
• Supervisory experience in a plastic injection molding environment, with machining and assembly processes required.
• A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
