As Associate for Supplier Development you are responsible for the planning, performing and review of all supplier development activities with the supplier. The key functions in a Supplier Development project are the on-site consulting and evaluation of the improvement status of the supplier.
You have to discuss all relevant requirements for the project at first with internal functions (Quality/RD/Procurement). Close cooperation with the supplier and 3rd party consulting companies during the project phase is a crucial part of your daily work.
Within the MP China organization you will act as a trainer to the supplier for the requirements of Daimler and BBAC. During the Supplier Development project phase you are the key person of the project and realize the communication to the other departments. For escalation topics you are responsible for a close reporting in management meetings.
Task Description:
- General
Correlation and collaboration with peers and Commodity Groups in daily business.
Prepare relevant data and support reporting; contribute to CIP.
- Supplier Development/ Tier-n Management
Lead Supplier Development and work with suppliers, and if necessary with tier-n suppliers, on advanced quality planning and improvement of their Quality Management System for selected projects; support problem resolution activity at the supplier when quality issues arise. Lead supplier audits if applicable or support audits of Quality Engineers in related projects.
- Communication and Reporting
Constantly communicate to all adjacent departments such as RD, Procurement and BBAC in order to establish Supplier Development as a core function in the MP organization. This includes self-dependent acquisition of new projects and participation in Commodity Group meetings or similar. Regularly report project status in these meetings and escalate to management if necessary.
- Process development
Identification of necessary improvements and new processes and methods. Independent process development according to the identified needs and preparation of management decision processes.
- Third Party management
Communicate and collaborate with third party consultant companies. This includes evaluation of the company to be released as a whole as a support for Supplier Development as well as interviewing and assessing individuals for their capability as consultants.
