Global External Sourcing (GES) is a sourcing and supply organisation with over 200 suppliers across 40 countries. We support AstraZeneca’s Operations strategy by establishing supply chains and managing suppliers across the world.

GES plays a key role in ensuring the external supply chains are robust and deliver value to AstraZeneca through driving continuous improvement. We also deliver new product introduction through external supply. We play a pivotal role in integrating companies and products that AstraZeneca acquires and bring innovation through supply chain, for example with market access programs.

We are now looking for a Supplier Manager to join our Supplier Management Team within GES. Location of the roles is Sweden (Södertälje) or UK (Macclesfield).

This is a temporary position for one year.

The role

As a Supplier Manager you are accountable for the performance, budgets and relationship management of the external supplier that functions as a virtual site within the wider GES supply network. In collaboration with your colleagues and suppliers you ensure timely delivery of high-quality products to the customers. The role involves leading change and continuous improvement programmes with our internal and external partners.

As the responsible of a total portfolio of projects and products for a set of suppliers, you ensure that performance and delivery are assured both on an operational and strategic level. This means resolving issues, secure compliance, optimising business performance and develop future improvement opportunities.

Further, you develop strong relationships with the suppliers and act as the key contact and first point of contact for all escalations.

Essential requirements

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification
  • Experience of manufacturing and supply chain management and driving performance and improvements
  • Stakeholder management and ability to demonstrate a range of influencing techniques in a supplier facing role.
  • Understanding of quality principles and GMP requirements
  • Sound financial skills and budget management
  • Experience of identifying, implementing and managing business metrics
  • Fluent in English

Desirable requirements

  • Line or matrix management experience
  • Change management
  • Previous supplier management experience or external service provision
  • Process management experience
