Our location in Menlo Park, CA  currently has an opportunity for a Supplier Quality Engineer II to lead and manage projects with suppliers, specifically supplier changes, process improvement projects and receiving inspection improvement projects. Work with suppliers to implement changes and utilize cross functional departments within Abbott to support projects. Develop strategies for implementation and make technical decisions on material qualifications for new or changed components.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

You will be responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.

1. Utilize project management tools to execute supplier quality projects; including supplier changes, process improvement projects, new supplier qualification, capacity improvement projects and receiving inspection projects.

2. Act as project lead to work with suppliers on changes to the validated state. Mentor or provide inputs for supplier process validation. Lead internal Abbott efficiency or capacity improvement projects

3. Consult technical subject matter experts on site as well as various functional areas outside of supplier quality to ensure timely and effective completion of projects  

4. Report to management on project progress and provide solution options to project obstacles or delays

5. Maintain budgets for projects and report on delays or changes

Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor's degree plus 2+ years of related work experience with a strong understanding of specified functional area, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • (Technical/Business Knowledge (Job Skills)) Wide application of technical principles, practices, and procedures. Strong understanding of business unit function and cross group dependencies/relationships. Will perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.
  • (Cognitive Skills) Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
  • Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Has a sound knowledge of various technical alternatives and their impact.
