The Supply Chain Manager provides leadership and is accountable for maximizing Supply Chain effectiveness and efficiency in meeting the demands of a rapidly growing business in a fluid supply & demand environment. He/she is responsible for setting the appropriate Supply Chain strategy in line with the Businesses’ Operating Model and is strategic thought partner for the regional business and commercial team as well as the Global Animal Nutrition, Care Chemicals and Crop Supply Chain Director. He/ she has the overall oversight for Supply Planning and Warehouse Management for regional locations and serves as the Supply Chain contact for Customer Service and Logistics. As part of this role she/he is also responsible for Distribution Resource Planning for the APR region in close coordination with the Global Supply Managers.

Care Chemicals / Animal Nutrition APR includes supply chain activities at the Nanjing and Yixing site, regional warehouses and a close connect to the SP Customer Service Teams in the Asia Pacific Regions. This position provides effective guidance and coaching to 1 direct report and to the supply chain team in the sites. He/ she reports directly to the Global CC/AN/CR Supply Chain Director and reports regionally to the Global Directors Supply Chain Operations. He/she is part of Global AN/CC/CR Supply Chain Team, the APR Supply Chain Leadership Team and is working closely with the Sales Director Speciality Plastics and the regional commercial team. Regular travel to the Nanjing and Yixing site is required.

The key responsibilities and main tasks of the Supply Chain Manager Specialty Plastics are to ensure customer satisfaction utilizing company procedures, under the guiding principles of safety procedures, quality management, coaching principles and effective teamwork, in close coordination and cooperation with other Eastman Functional and Business groups.

This is a hands-on position responsible for continual analysis and developing strategic plans that will enable the business to meet business strategies and achieve target results.

Functional Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Role model a zero-incident safety culture and comply with Eastman’s safety and wellness musts; ensure required HSES trainings are complete.
  • Leading, mentoring and coaching direct reports and setting clear guidelines; promoting a culture of external focus and internal value creation. Promote teamwork. Responsible for talent management.
  • Creates Supply Chain Management Strategies and Operations Models/ Distribution Infrastructure that supports customers in a cost effective and efficient manner. Accountable to optimize flows between APR and EMEA for materials produced at the Kuantan site in line with business & supply strategies as defined in the IBP for Animal Nutrition, Care Chemicals and Crop.
  • Responsible to lead or be member of projects designed to innovate and improve process design, cost management (d-cost, direct cost) and actively support digitization efforts.
  • Is member of the Regional Supply Chain Management Team, global AN/CC/CR Supply Chain Leadership Team and Regional Business Team
  • Be an individual that approaches business challenges from a macro perspective and resolve strategic issues effectively.
  • Leads the APR Care Chemicals / Animal Nutrition / Crop Supply Chain Management team. Oversees the Planning, Inventory Management and Warehousing processes, closely linked with Customer Services and Logistics processes, in cooperation with the CC/AN/CR Supply Managers located in the US and Europe, regional Customer Service, Logistics and Demand Management.
  • Manages the regional interface with the Kuantan site, understands regional trade & compliance requirements linked to the raw material imports, local and regional storage and exports from the sites. Develops a close interface with local and regional Trade & Compliance experts.
  • Develops regional and aligns with global inventory goals which effectively balance cash-flow, lead-times / customer service levels and inventory turn rates
  • Participates in the regional & global Speciality Plastics Supply meetings in close cooperation with the Supply Manager(s). Ensures effective execution of regional Sales & Operations Execution(S&OE) Teams, including oversight of an effective complaints handling process.
  • Participates in other management routines such as WWCAR, Open Order Tracking review and others as required.
  • Provides input to regional 3rd party service provider contracts in close cooperation with Logistics and procurement; ensures business requirements are met.
  • Designs, generates, maintains and monitors monthly Key Performance Indicators such as On-Time –In- Full (OTIF), Attainment to Schedule (ATS) and others as required.
  • Supporting and advising the Sales Director and regional commercial team of supply chain, channel to market and other Supply Chain interfacing issues such as CS and/or Logistics to meet and exceed the business segment objectives
  • Staying informed on Business and Sales strategies; cooperates with Commercial and Business Managers ensuring business & customer needs are met;
  • Responsible for Budget and Distribution Cost, identifying and executing respective improvement opportunities and providing input to forecast

General Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Works closely with Commercial, Business, Logistics, Pricing and Procurement (AMS) teams and participates in periodic meetings
  • Work closely with Centre of Excellence to design, maintain and ensure compliance of work instructions pertaining to local laws and regulations to facilitate effective and efficient use of SAP and other electronic tools
  • Ensures full compliance with Corporate Standard Operating Procedures and all Sarbanes Oxley required processes
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience

  • Has a bachelor/ master’s degree, preferably in the technical and/or economic field and 5-7 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management.
  • Has demonstrated Leadership skills and a solid understanding of Supply Chain Concepts
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, can clarify priorities with various stakeholders, and has a drive for focus and delivery
  • Strategic Thinker has experience with improvement processes, preferably six-sigma trained, good analytical skills
  • Has good affinity with the business and solid understanding of financial impact of Process Improvement
  • Is self-starting, and pro-active towards local, regional and international stakeholders, flexible
  • Has excellent Project Management skills
  • Excellent communication and language skills both Mandarin & English, effective presentation skills and multi-cultural understanding
  • Regular travel will be required
