We’re looking for an enthusiastic, hard working and experienced bike industry insider to support our team as we manufacture our bikes in Taiwan.

We are a fast growing tech start up with a global footprint across Australia the US and the UK.

Who are we?

Bolt Bikes was founded in Sydney in 2017 by 3 friends who had worked together at global strategy consultancy Bain & Co and gone on into senior roles in on-demand food delivery (Deliveroo), shared mobility (Mobike), private equity (Crescent Capital) and operational consultancy.

Bolt Bikes manufactures, leases out and manages electric bike fleets to delivery couriers. We primarily work in the food delivery business, and partner with companies like UberEats, FoodPanda and Deliveroo. We develop our own specialised bikes with Taiwan manufacturing already taking place.

We currently are operating in Sydney, San Francisco, London and Melbourne with more cities on the way.

The Role:

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for sourcing key component and assemblers in Taiwan. Additionally s/he will ensure the supply chain is ready for production runs. He or she will manage all aspects of production including sourcing, procurement, manufacturing, quality control, logistics, supplier management, costing and planning. The ideal candidate is an experienced supply chain professional with 10 years of hands on experience in Asian factories overseeing the manufacture of goods, preferably hardware or automotive. He or she will be an independent go-getter, able to find solutions and make things happen. In addition, the candidate will speak and write English and Mandarin fluently, and possess strong interpersonal skills that will enable them to operate in the world of Asian suppliers as well as our Western markets. This position is based in Taiwan and reports to our management team in Sydney, Australia.

Primary Responsibilities:

Supplier Management

  • Develop and maintain C-Level relationships with Bolt's Assemblers and key suppliers. Ability to negotiate long term contracts, payment and delivery terms a must.
  • Additionally maintain relationships with all of Bolt's component suppliers in China and other parts of the world. Including pricing, order planning and execution, quality standards, returns and warranties.
  • Find and develop new suppliers where required, reporting back to HQ with technical detail to aid decision making

Production Management

  • Develop and maintain Bolt's Bill of Materials with internal stakeholders.
  • Drive production teams at Bolt's Assemblers – including finance, technical, procurement, QC, production and logistics.
  • Be ultimately responsible for the production of Bolt’s products – from ensuring components are correct and have been procured, to ensuring quality standards are met and timelines are adhered to.

Planning

  • Maintain a rolling 12-month delivery schedule with input from internal stakeholders such as sales, finance and design.
  • Execute on the delivery schedule, coordinating and planning with Master Assemblers and downstream component suppliers.
  • Continue to build and execute on Bolt programs to reduce lead times, reduce costs, increase production efficiency and improve production quality.
  • Host members of Bolt from overseas in Taiwan for key contact visits.

Product Development

  • Act as liaison to suppliers in product development projects to support Bolt's technical team. Project management may be required in some cases.

Requirements

  • At least 5+ years experience in Supply Chain Management, preferably in Taiwan and/or China
  • Engineering (electrical or mechanical) or proven technical background
  • University degree or tertiary education in relevant field
  • Hands on manufacturing experience: automotive, motorcycle or bicycle industries a plus.
  • Ability to think and act strategically, but willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done no matter how trivial the task.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Mandarin Chinese
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Travel required (frequently in Taiwan and periodically in other parts of world)
