Amgen is seeking a Manager, Supply Chain to be a part of our Global Raw Materials and Device (RMD) Supply Chain group. The Manager will work from our corporate headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA or West Greenwich, RI. Global RMD Planning is a function within External Planning & Delivery (EPD), Global Supply Planning, which main objective is to mobilize network planning for select raw materials and devices in alignment with Amgen’s planning cycle. The overall goals are to improve demand planning, increase forecast accuracy, generate cost savings thru optimized order management and scrap containment, as well as reduce order-to-receipt lead-time. The team closely partners with the Site Procurement departments within the Site Supply Chain organizations and the RMD organization within External Supply, Manufacturing.

The RMD Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the following:

Network Performance

  • Participate in Global Product Planning forums to identify new category demand and partner with Sites for early inclusion into network planning

  • Collaborate closely with appropriate PDT members to anticipate on impact of variations on long lead-time RMD supply

  • Provide leadership and oversight to category material planning across Sites to improve demand signals and provide consolidated forecast to Suppliers

  • Integrate network planning for select RMD into Amgen’s network planning cycle

  • Ensure timely availability of consolidated forecast to RMD Category Managers for submission to Suppliers

  • Contribute to the achievement of network RMD goals and initiatives as defined by External Supply and Operations initiatives

  • Realize network alignment for key Raw Material planning strategies and address critical issues

  • Supervise Forecast Accuracy performance in close partnership with Site Supply Chain and External Supply

  • Partner with External Supply and GSS to use forecast performance in contract and pricing negotiations

Inventory Performance

  • Lead review of safety stock strategy for select RMD

  • Complete annual safety stock review/setting process

  • Manage recovery plans and network allocations in shortage situations

  • Find opportunities to optimize order management (e.g. order consolidation, order frequency, minimum order quantities, etc.)

  • Conduct supply sensitivity to minimize scrap for select RMD across network

  • Analyze, consolidate, and report forecast at the component / supplier level

  • Develop network scenarios to assist in driving short and long-range plans and analyses company RMD inventory plans including inventory levels, scrap, inventory purchases, and consumption

  • Observe and address issues with PO submission by sites for all raw material suppliers

Other responsibilities include:

  • Maintain excellent communication lines with all sources of demand and supply

  • Effectively engage key partners within supply chain, quality, finance, process development and other functional areas as needed

  • Use expertise to influence planning and supply chain processes as appropriate

  • Understand how Global RMD Planning fits in Amgen’s business process to provide development opportunities and continuous process improvement

  • Provide ad hoc reporting to support network

  • Develop and/or deliver reports, presentations and/or recommendations to executive audiences

  • Serve as a Supply Chain resource and/or representative for special projects and initiatives

  • Work under minimal supervision in line with Amgen Values and Leadership Attributes

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate

Or

Master’s degree and 2 years of experience in Manufacturing or Supply Chain

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience in Manufacturing or Supply Chain

Or

Associate degree and 10 years of experience in Manufacturing or Supply Chain

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of experience in Manufacturing or Supply Chain

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business management or life science or advanced degree

  • Experience in regulated manufacturing or supply chain setting

  • Demonstrated experience in a continuous improvement role applying tools, methodologies and change management (i.e. Lean, Six Sigma)

  • Demonstrated experience leading product teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and establish and maintain working relationships with a variety of individuals and groups

  • Proven communication and facilitation and project management skills

  • Demonstrated experience in SAP and RapidResponse ERP environments

  • Experience in tools such as Smartsheet, Spotfire, Tableau

  • Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to implement and lead sophisticated projects and programs
