Job Description
Job Summary Responsible for managing key production control related functions such as demand and forecast management, materials planning and procurement activities and warehousing incomings/deliveries. Manages and directs warehouse and materials planning personnel to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders while maintaining optimal inventory levels. Is expected to develop direct reports on the use of various business systems, expanding functional competencies, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Job Responsibilities Provide leadership and manage functional areas of Purchasing, Inventory Control/Logistics, and Warehousing ensuring continuous improvement and on-time delivery. Build Organizational Capability through development plans, mentoring, driving accountability, cross training & succession planning. Responsible for managing and/or supporting supplier negotiations for direct & indirect material. Ensure site adheres to Supply Chain Policies and Corporate procedures and programs. Establishes and maintains metrics and procedures for the department. Develops and controls inventory levels based on sales forecasts and other commitments in order to balance production with customer requirements. Administers plant purchasing, logistics, and warehousing activities ensuring cost effective, on-time and on-budget tasks. Directs materials staff to ensure objectives, schedules, metrics and budgets for these areas are achieved. Ensures that appropriate quality and service levels are maintained through staff personnel to meet customer requirements. Administers controls of receipt and acknowledgment of materials and supplies and the maintenance of purchasing records to optimize inventory levels. Assures proper warehousing of incoming material and product shipments are efficiently coordinated to meet monthly forecast and goals. Coordinates with other departments to ensure smooth flow of materials, and monitors business trends and economic cycles in order to anticipate change in order flow from customers and material availability from suppliers. Analyzes and evaluates inventory and delivery problems and recommends and/or implements solutions to optimize inventory levels and manufacturing schedule. Arranges for the sale of scrap, obsolete, surplus materials, and by-products in order to minimize excess material. Evaluates work performance of the group annually, or as required, in order to facilitate performance management, merit promotions, transfers, dismissals, commendations, etc. Coordinates with central corporate Supply Chain function to provide data and participate in teams in order to drive best practices across Eaton Corp. Support compliance to corporate initiatives and corporate commodity strategies to achieve synergy across the operation. Provides financial forecasts and assure forecast targets are met Other functions as assigned. Qualifications Qualifications Preferred education level: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineer, Business, or related areas. Preferable a Masters’ Degree or MBA. Years and area of experience required: Minimum 5 years of supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment of which 3 years of related professional and supervisory / managerial experience. Technical knowledge: Knowledge of materials planning systems (MRP/ERP) requirements and order generation process logic. Thorough understanding of Supply Chain Management operational concepts surrounding production planning, scheduling, purchasing, supplier selection, inventory control, logistics, stockroom operations, shipping/receiving.
