System Analyst (Speech/Natural Language)

Job Description
The applicant will be an engineer with a background in signal processing or applied engineering mathematics to join a team developing a variety of state of the art technologies for local industries to improve the quality of life in Hong Kong.
Responsibilities
- The applicant will support the R&D aims of the Centre and will be responsible for the following:
- Writing software for (acoustics/speech) data acquisition and natural language processing (NLP) for robotic/AI applications;
- Carrying out experiments and supporting field trials;
- Evaluating and assessing different technology options; and
- Other engineering assignments as appropriate
Requirements
- Successful applicants should have:
- PhD/Master/Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related disciplines;

Knowledge/experience of some of the following areas will be an advantage:
o Acoustic modeling, language modeling, hidden Markov model, feature extraction and deep neural network for speech recognition;
o Speech enhancement techniques for robust speech recognition system;
o Text and speech databases design for natural language processing and speech recognition in Cantonese/English/Mandarin;
o Conversation flow design for chatbot;
o Cloud services natural language understanding API (e.g. Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, IBM, Watson's, Microsoft Azure) for sentiment analysis and text classification;
o C/C++, Python, NodeJS, Matlab;
o Cloud A passion in Engineering & Technology;
o Proactive, self-motivated and good communication skills in both Cantonese & English; and
o Candidate with less experience may be considered as Senior Engineer/Software Engineer/Research Assistant.
