Job Description
Position Overview This position requires the candidate to have 8+ years of experience using AutoCAD software to design electrical control panels, especially in the mechanical portion of selecting enclosure size and type to account for heat dissipation and environment. The position requires the design and layout of complex industrial control panels Roles requires managing multiple projects and delivering finished designs on schedule The role will report to the PMA PO manager but will also need to take direction from the Engineering Team Leader within PMA PO The role will require working in the Alpharetta office on a regular basis Responsibilities Design physical layout of control components within electrical control enclosures Incorporate component spacing for heat dissipation and cable routing paths to separate power and control wiring Ability to design custom brackets on occasion to incorporate into panel design Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience Strong knowledge and experience using AutoCAD software Mechanical aptitude to visualize 3D components in a 2D design Self-motivated worker that researches technical data on internet Ability to work in our Alpharetta office & from home and deliver critical tasks on time Attention to detail that results in delivering drawings with very few mistakes Experience drafting electrical schematics and mechanical layout of components Understanding the thermal physics of heat generating electronics in a panel and how to design the component layout to avoid thermal problems Understands the difference between control enclosure ratings of NEMA 1 / IP10 – NEMA 12 / IP52 – NEMA 4 / IP56 Understands standards of wireway separation of power and control circuits and how best to implement these inside an enclosure design Strong knowledge of Rittal enclosure systems and accessories Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience 5+ years of experience designing cabinets with Siemens components Understands the family of Siemens products and knows how to find technical information Knowledge of how electrical control panels are assembled and laying out the components to make the wiring of the panel most efficient Ability to foresee panel assembly problems in the design phase and avoid costly redesign process in middle of panel construction Organization: Digital Industries Company: Siemens Industry, Inc.
